Having seen everything we needed in Washington, we didn't think twice before heading to our next destination, Philadelphia. So, the city is Philadelphia, the weather is always sunny. Philadelphia became our shopping hub. The thing is, we accidentally stumbled upon a store selling brand-name items at a very low price. And there were a lot of items. A lot. And it turned out that we spent half our time in Philadelphia looking at shirts, jackets, and ties. (Shut up and take my money). Getting hungry, we rushed to find a place to satisfy our hunger. And we found one. The point of this cafe was that every slice of pizza was sold for a dollar. But the main highlight was that absolutely all the walls were covered with stickers on which different thoughts from different visitors were written. We found it very atmospheric and at least original. We didn't stay on the sidelines and left a reminder of ourselves. In Philadelphia, we didn't manage to see the sights at all. And it wasn't our fault, it was the 'Made in America' festival that coincided with our stay, because of which the entire city center was closed. But we weren't upset, because we were full, and in our bag lay brand-name items for which we would have had to pay an indecent amount of money in Russia. The next day we had to set off for New York. And at that moment, I probably hated the units of measurement and time format in the USA for the first time all summer. For those who don't know, America uses completely different, logically unjustified units of measurement. Also, they use a 12-hour time format. And so, instead of buying a ticket for 9 a.m., I buy a ticket for 9 p.m. And that means we spend another day in Philadelphia; a condition that did not suit us at all. And we had to buy another ticket and set off from where we started. (Comeback) So, the city is New York, the mood is downcast. Arriving in New York, I realized that there were only two days left before we returned to Russia, and this thought did not leave me until the very flight. First of all, we went to where we could soak up the Russian spirit – Brighton Beach. We were primarily interested in what kind of place it was and if everything there was really so Russian? It turned out that yes, but there is one problem. Russia in Brighton is the Russia of the 90s. Little Russia seemed very sad, dull, and uninteresting to us. People looked unhappy, young people were almost absent. Looking at all this, I wanted to return to America, and we did just that. We spent the second day in New York walking along Broadway. It felt like you had only arrived here yesterday and walked through these same places, but in reality, it was a distant three months ago. And each time it became more joyful for me to remember all those places that we had passed in New York. Maybe that is the magical power of this city – the more you think about it, the more you love it. At the very beginning, I said that New York disappointed. No, after all, New York charmed. And how does it manage to do that? The trip came to an end, and the captain of the New York – Moscow flight greeted us and wished us a pleasant flight. The same was done later by the captain of the Moscow – Tyumen plane. So, the city is Tyumen, the feeling is Well, that's it...

Hi, my name is Vika and I'm from the city of Yekaterinburg! My blog won't be too long, nor will it be stuffed with epithets, metaphors, or descriptive turns of phrase (even though I'm a philologist by education). It's just a light story, and I'll focus on a few specific moments. You are simply geniuses, and the person who invented, implemented, and perfected the Work and Travel USA program is a genius. I admire it, honestly. Not every adult can afford a trip to America. It's an expensive pleasure, and it's far away. And I don't think it's like a typical family vacation... it's easier, cheaper, and closer to go for a family vacation to Crimea (I love Crimea, I spent my whole childhood there) or Turkey. And here is such a chance! Thank you for this, I'm thrilled! =) My summer story began on June 5, 2014. Five pale and exhausted-from-finals future traveler-frogs met early in the morning at Koltsovo Airport in Yekaterinburg. We really looked tired and weren't particularly happy about the upcoming trip. I think we just didn't understand what was happening =) We stood modestly with our little suitcases, waiting to board the bird of happiness from the Aeroflot company. *I want to say thank you to the bird that safely delivered us to Moscow, to Sheremetyevo Airport* In Sheremetyevo, the traveler-frogs ran around looking for currency exchange points and for another dose of coffee for me—I'm just a wild coffee addict. And finally, we tucked our little bottoms into the main bird that took us straight there, to New York. Woohoo, no more sitting in a fetal position, wondering, "I wonder if I'm the only one who feels like a child in a tight stroller?", or suffering from a lack of sleep and annoying the flight attendants with requests to bring something to "chew on." Yes, that's how we ate away our boredom, because the movies just didn't work for us at all. And we really should have slept!!! I, a walking—and at that moment, sitting—miracle, made a mistake in the declaration (they give it to you on the plane, if I remember correctly, just before landing at the American airport). I put a checkmark in the wrong place... the question was written something like: "Are you bringing fruits or vegetables into America for further distribution?" YES! I am bringing a kilogram of cranberries for sale, well, you know, extra income! And a big African-American guy (actually, I love them very much and am not afraid of them at all), while checking the declaration, started to react nervously and comment on my checkmark, and I realized... and started waving my arms just as nervously, clearly keeping up with the pace of the dialogue he set, and saying that it was a mistake, I'm a student, Russia, I just messed up, sorry-excuse me uncle, but NO! The guy (the same sweet African-American guy) sent me to a separate counter with another dark-skinned guy... scenes from movies about American prisons or scams immediately came to mind... and I was in the lead role... and they were going to torture me... with a lamp, a chair, and ropes, well, everything as it should be, you understand. But I kept repeating like an oath: "it's a mistake, I'm a student, Russia, I just messed up, sorry-excuse me uncle" and they let me go. A good oath, remember it=)) *My girls, including me, hadn't yet managed to adapt to the sound of fast American speech, and we made the airport workers laugh)) It was funny)*

On Saturday, I realized how great it is to have friends. With a car. And connections)) First, the German girl, the Spanish guy, and I headed to the Neighborhood Market. It's this place where people sell homemade (and other) food. And most importantly - they give you samples! You try so much that you're not hungry anymore) I tried the most delicious cheese of my life there. The cheese is actually French, but it's sold here in Africa) It melts in your mouth... divine! We also tried a bunch of strange products. It's an interesting place, I tell you. There's everything there) And everyone. People from all over the world. After the market, we headed to one of the most interesting places in Cape Town. I should mention that the Spaniard rented a car and drove us all for free) So, we picked up a South African who promised to show us this place. Now, a little about Townships. South Africa is the richest country on the continent. And the most prosperous. But even here, there are areas with absolutely poor people. They don't even live in shacks, but in something resembling garages. So, in Cape Town, such areas are called Townships. There are several of them. And we visited one of them because our South African friend's friends live there. It's called Guguletu. We arrived at some strange street, drove almost into the house. Externally, the building reminded me of dachas near Zlatoust) We went into the house, I asked to use the restroom... well, what can you do? After the restroom, a black guy, a neighbor apparently, started talking to us) He asked where we were from. Spain, Germany, and Russia, as you remember. Russia caused the brightest emotions. The neighbor said that locals call this area Russia! Because it's colder here than in others, and everyone drinks rum (!!). Well, as always) Then they took us into the house. And a wave of nostalgia washed over me because it smelled just like our village houses back home... I shared my feelings with everyone, and the guys started looking at me like one of their own. Moreover, there was a guy in a Russian hat! An ushanka! Such things!)) They gave us brandy and showed us the area. Then the Spaniard made me show a traditional Russian dance and teach the guy in the Russian hat how to do it. He filmed everything, and later I'll show you my shame)) Then we went to a club, but that's another story...

Yes, that's right, since 2030 it has become possible. Since then, more than 15 flights have been organized for the purpose of travel, exploration, and ecological assistance to the planets of the Solar System. I have participated in such a space expedition twice myself, and the emotions I experienced were simply fire! Every year, IEC opens new branches around the world, which contributes to improving relations between countries—and that is the key to world peace! Work and Travel USA: The program has become known to every person on the planet. Due to improved relations between countries, visas are granted to everyone who truly wants one. A greater number of students participate in the program, bringing back unforgettable impressions and stories every year. Many current participants are the granddaughters/grandsons, great-granddaughters/great-grandsons of those who also participated once upon a time. Me: Finally, about me. By the age of 43, I have been convinced for the hundredth time that happiness lies in travel, and I continue to discover new corners of the globe and beyond. I return home for a maximum of a month, only to rush off again to conquer new places, meet new people, learn about new cultures, and simply live life to the fullest. By the way, I have long since achieved the status of a professional skydiver, which makes every trip of mine even more exciting. World: The development of new technologies, particularly in aviation, allows for travel from one continent to another in a matter of hours. Russia has become one of the most tolerant countries, where minorities have ceased to be minorities, just as in the rest of the world. No one is afraid to show themselves as they are. More happy people, less depression. The year is 2039, there are still no flying cars, but the number of happy people achieving their goals is 100%. I am happy!

Still a small population, J-1 Visa students everywhere, and our resort is the most desirable to visit in all of America; houses are booked 5 years in advance. What is happening with Orel, my hometown? I opened a private school where instruction is conducted in English. They started building a subway, although back in 2035, but one station is already there, waiting for the second one—we will live well! By the way, the airport is already working; last weekend I flew to Kazan. Yes, yes, to those very friends I met in America. I don't handle flights as well as I did back in 2019. Age, you know.

As you remember, last Friday I went to salsa! It was free, very sweet, and useful too. This time I decided to go again. But I didn't have company, so I invited some acquaintances from Russia. During the day, I cooked chicken soup and went for a walk. On the way back to the hostel, I met Misha. Misha, apparently, missed Russian conversations just like me! We chatted for half an hour. I invited him to salsa too. By the way, while we were talking, we met a Black guy in a track jacket that said "Russia". Just as I left Misha, I met Egor. I invited him to eat my fresh soup. We were sitting and eating when Misha arrived) Then Ilya came too. Later, a South African acquaintance joined. The soup went down well)) In short, by the evening there were six of us. Me and five guys! With that group, we went to salsa. Nobody really danced because we aren't professionals, it felt a bit embarrassing, especially since there weren't many people there. You can't hide in the crowd) Anyway, that's how the second salsa of my life went.
