Munich and Nojabrxsk

I didn't worry about the trip for a single minute, so please take my upcoming posts about my first impressions in the context of my complete lack of emotion. Back at Domodedovo, we hit it off with Andrey, and all we did was roast Munich and Nojabrxsk. They even sat us together on the plane, and we kept wondering what to do with the Milk if you've already taken juice, and what to do with the pure orange juice if you can't drink any more. Contrary to my fears, we flew British Airways, whose service pleased me more than I expected. First of all, everyone was guaranteed a blanket, and secondly, it was, of course, the cutest breakfast. However, during the entire four-hour flight, while our crew call light was on, not a single flight attendant deigned to come over to us. And as for the flight attendants, it's just unbelievable! Of course, Britain has never been known for good taste, starting with the royal family. The landing was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen from a porthole in my life. We descended over green fields, crisscrossed by gray roads with left-hand traffic. Tiny houses with garages are scattered everywhere. Swamps that look cleaner even from a bird's-eye view than the Caspian Sea. Everything is wonderful: the bridges, the highway, the double-decker buses on it, and the poplars around - but everything screams of excessive childishness. It just reeks of Britishness. Oh, and there was an Irish Aer Lingus on the runway. Seriously. Heathrow Airport has a rather complicated inspection system: take out all liquids, then the belt control, then the frame, but they didn't even take the liquids away. It was terribly, TERRIBLY long, and when I finished, I had 15 minutes before departure to get to the gate. ------------- I kept a blog on VKontakte (https://vk.com/wielec_usa), more information there!

Moscow-London-New York

The first few days of my stay in America have come to an end. Now that the difficulties of these days are behind me and new ones won't arrive until tomorrow, I want to describe my first impressions. And I don't even mind the African American guy lounging on the bed next to me, blasting his strange music. When I was heading to Domodedovo, I expected to see a small, dirty room hastily equipped as an airport. In reality, it is a truly huge building that meets all international standards. State-of-the-art equipment, cleanliness, free Wi-Fi—honestly, even London's airport seemed less interesting to me. Initially, it was planned that I would go to the USA with a friend, with the only difference being that he would arrive a day later. The surprises started right at the beginning. I went online and saw a message: "Tyoma, sorry, I can't go, I won't have time to pass my exams." Fantastic)) Oh well, more for me then. After going through the check-in procedure, I ended up in Duty Free (a place where you can buy anything at cheap prices; alcohol is, of course, in the highest demand), where I met another lonely adventurer—Anatoly. Together we wandered through the nooks and crannies of Duty Free and boarded the plane. Have you ever flown? The takeoff itself probably evokes the most emotion. That feeling when you are literally pressed into your seat and you rise into the sky. It's great! Then, a beautiful view of vanilla clouds appears before you. At some point, you even feel like you're in Antarctica, where there is snow and blue ocean everywhere. The service on the plane is also top-notch. Smiling flight attendants, delicious food (salad, main course, and dessert), and equally tasty drinks (during both flights, I managed to try liqueur, real beer, and whiskey). For entertainment, there is a monitor equipped in every seat. On it, you can watch various shows, movies, the flight path, time to the destination, etc. There is only one downside: about 20 minutes before landing, the plane slows down, and apparently because of this, your ears pop and start to hurt a lot. Although, maybe it's just because I'm not used to it.

My America or the place where doors open autoMAGICally D

"When you dream, the whole universe conspires to help you" Paulo Coelho, "The Alchemist" Yes, I have dreamed of going to America for as long as I can remember. The first time was when I found out about the existence of Disneyland) And here I am) Naturally, the emotions are overwhelming. Sometimes even tears of happiness. When a dream of several years comes true, it's indescribable… May 22 00:30 Only now have I truly felt that the adventure has begun: I am at Domodedovo Airport. I am alone, I don't know where to go, I approach everyone, and they all send me to some other places, nothing is clear. But I'm not upset, I still have plenty of time before the flight) Now I'm sitting in some cafe, drinking coffee so I don't fall asleep. Although… I wouldn't have fallen asleep without it anyway, I'm too excited about the upcoming flight) My first experience) But for some reason, I'm not afraid at all. Right now, I'm only afraid of one thing: that I won't be able to understand my employer. So I'm sitting with a dictionary, looking up new words, expanding my vocabulary) 11:00 We are already at Heathrow. The flight to London went great) No incidents) I met some guys from Chelyabinsk!) I didn't even know I wasn't flying alone that day! I'm very happy about it, because it would have taken me a long time to figure out how to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4... We had to take a special bus. I wasn't sure until the very end, but in the end, I just trusted the guys. In any case, we had plenty of time. We've already walked around the shops here, but I'm so tired that the only thing I want right now is to get some sleep. That's what I'm going to do. 18:00 We are in America!! I still can't believe it) I'm so happy) Friends picked me up from the airport and we immediately drove to their place in Philadelphia, I'll stay with them for a week, and only after that will I go to Florida) I calculated and it turned out that today was 10 hours longer for me) After all, a day can have more than 24 hours!))

06/03/12-06/04/12 (How I got there)

My journey to America began in the northern city of Surgut. First, I had to get to Tyumen. On the 3rd at 1 a.m., I was seen off on the train, and in my mind, I said goodbye to my hometown for 4 months. I wouldn't say I was sad to leave; rather, I was anticipating something much more interesting. The trip to Tyumen took 12 hours by train, and I slept through the whole thing after a sleepless week)) In Tyumen, I met an old friend, and at 7:40 p.m., the plane took off for Moscow. We arrived at Domodedovo, I was walking past the people waiting and bumped into a man with flowers... he was asking "Are you Tanya?" and gallantly held out a bouquet... but I recoiled and rushed forward) (though I probably should have taken the bouquet, ha...) In Moscow, I had a 10-hour layover! I thought that was it, I'd spend the night at the airport all alone. But that wasn't the case; I called my cousin, and he and his friend drove me around Moscow) I didn't see anything, but I had a great time))) At 3 a.m., I was already checking in for the Moscow-London flight. Almost the entire plane was packed with J-1 students))) The crew was English, and only one flight attendant spoke Russian. It was curious to communicate with an Englishman not in a classroom, but in real life)) We flew to London for 5 hours. By then, I was physically exhausted, but I still had a 6-hour layover in London and 7 hours to New York. It was the longest and most tedious layover of my life(( We sat in the terminal, and I walked around the shops about 500 times. The only thing is their currency is pounds, and I only had dollars, and I really wanted to buy souvenirs... I was surprised by how many books people buy; the book section was the most popular. My joy knew no bounds when boarding began! But there were still 7 hours ahead, although I comforted myself with the thought of sleeping through all 7 hours—oh, how naive I was))) I flew with Virgin Atlantic. They immediately handed out headphones and a traveler's kit as a gift: a sleep mask, socks, a pen, a toothbrush and toothpaste, all in their signature red color))) In short, all those 7 hours they kept feeding us: a main course, ice cream, dessert, candy, various drinks—as you can imagine, I didn't get any sleep. Plus, there wasn't a single movie in Russian(( And then, arrival in New York. My soul was filled with so much joy and emotion that this was it, America!! We went through customs, picked up our suitcases, and I was already heading to the train when I saw Dasha; she had come to meet me) We were planning to go to Virginia Beach, but we thought it over quickly and decided to stay here)) For the first day, we checked into a motel for $60, where I finally took a shower and slept in a huge bed. That's how my stay in America began)))

About New York (or the smelliest day of my life)

By the time I reached New York, a ton of time had passed and I hadn't encountered a single shower along the way. Everything went exactly as I calculated in Yekaterinburg before the trip started: a day to Moscow (cologne doesn't really help after the train), another day flying to New York (plus the time I spent sitting in Domodedovo), and another night spent at the airport in New York since I arrived late at night. And now morning has come, and I bought a bus ticket to Myrtle Beach for the evening. Basically, I can walk around all day, but there's one obstacle - my smelly, stinky fragrance. But this is America, this is New York (like, everything is supposed to smell like this here, but nope), I can't just sit around. Anyway, I didn't care, I went for a walk. People say New York stinks, I don't know, I didn't feel it. Or maybe I added to it myself. P.S. Nikitoz helped me calculate the number of days without a shower, he did it in a snap. It didn't scare me at all. But I remembered his laughter. P.P.S. In the evening, I locked myself in the station restroom. Not in a stall, IN THE RESTROOM. I washed as best I could - washed my armpits, brushed my teeth, changed my socks and underwear. And when people were banging on the door, I thought about the words from the American guidebook "Discover America", something like "Americans are all different, you can't say anything that unites them. Sometimes it seems they go beyond the limits of what is allowed." I think I'll go a little beyond them too =)

3. IN THE AIR

June 29, 2010 (12:00 in Paris) Today I arrived in Paris. I haven't seen the city yet, but I did notice a couple of small 'villages'. Very charming, two-story houses with little gardens, smooth roads – a dream. The weather is cloudy – doesn't feel like France yet:) But Charles de Gaulle Airport... If you compare it to Pulkovo, or even Domodedovo – it's like Uglich vs. New York. Just huge. I couldn't find a place to sit down and write this note because in my terminal, 2E, the distance from wing to wing takes about 20 minutes on foot. I just found out the exact number of my gate and am writing now. There are different nations, languages, and behaviors everywhere. Everything is delightful and surprising. So far, I barely understand English. It started on the plane; a French steward began speaking quickly with a French accent about what to do in case of an emergency – I understood with the help of gestures:) Then a man started asking about the terminal at the airport – had to use hand signals again. Damn, the French talk so fast. Many Americans were traveling with us from St. Petersburg – I realized it from their passports. They are all so different, carefree; they really differ externally from other nations with some kind of 'aura', perhaps. Although, when I first saw them, I thought they were either Germans or Spaniards) Yeah. I guess I admire them a lot. Now I'm waiting for my flight to JFK at 16:35. Today I will be in New York. I'm very tired. I wanted to eat on the plane, but I fell asleep and the food 'left'. Oh well. As Steve Jobs said, 'Stay hungry. Stay foolish.'

Airportation.

Yo! I've arrived at Domodedovo Airport.. I traveled here from Stavropol by bus in a sleeper seat 0_0, which is actually more comfortable than a regular seat and you can even sleep decently, but it still looks pretty creepy.. I'm sitting here now, looking at a panorama of planes, my laptop is connected to free MTS Wi-Fi and charging from a free outlet =) Pretty cool =) But not everything is perfect - the Wi-Fi is slow, cuts out periodically for re-registration, there aren't enough outlets (some are broken), and power adapters for different types of sockets are only sold in one shop for a bit over 1100 rubles. Two Euroset stores here don't sell them at all, but they have plenty of phone cases.. And it's boring here, despite the internet and the planes, except for the moment with a homeless guy, whom I soon chased away. Nothing to do, typing up my resume, going to grab a bite) To be continued... in Zurich and New York =)

Ladies and gentlemen! Fasten your seatbelts.

The first thing I regretted was not having my camera with me!!! I felt so sorry when I saw the view from the other side of the porthole. An endless sea of clouds... just like in a fairy tale...) By the way, this was my first flight as an adult. But it felt like I'd been flying my whole life. Domodedovo greeted me with great weather:) Everything is a first for me on this trip))) the flight, the capital, going abroad...)
