About the place

Harrods operates as Europe's largest department store, occupying an expansive historic retail complex in Knightsbridge.

Charles Henry Harrod began the retail enterprise as a wholesale grocery specialising in tea before acquiring a shop near Hyde Park. His son Charles Digby Harrod expanded the business into adjoining properties to sell perfumes, medicines, and stationery. The main hall complex holds listed heritage status and ranks as the largest department store in Europe, designed by architect C. W. Stephens following a destructive fire.
