About the place

Suphachalasai Stadium anchors central athletic events from its position right next to the elevated transit line.

Built on the former grounds of Thai Windsor Palace through a lease with Chulalongkorn University, the arena carries the name of the first Director-General of Physical Education. King Ananda Mahidol opened the site for athletics competitions, shifting tournaments from Sanam Luang. Today the venue mainly hosts football matches, functioning as an alternative home for domestic clubs when local grounds fail continental criteria.

The single-tier structure features open concrete steps retrofitted with red benches surrounding a running track, with a roof protecting only the main stand. Spectators sit closer to the pitch here than at Rajamangala Stadium, though national fixtures have largely moved to the newer arena. Direct access through the adjacent elevated train station makes matchday arrivals straightforward for downtown residents.
