The royal monument commemorates the founding rulers of the northern realm and anchors the civic core of the historical district.

The bronze figures represent Phaya Mangrai, Pho Khun Ramkhamhaeng, and Phaya Ngammueang, who formed an alliance to establish the capital of the Lanna Kingdom. The allied rulers chose this location between the Ping River and the heights of Doi Suthep for its fertile plains and defensive geography. Sculptor Kaimook Chuto designed and cast the statues, which royal family members later inaugurated during formal civic ceremonies.
