I think the summer of 2019 will forever remain in my heart. In such a short time, it gave me friends from over 15 countries. Now I have friends from Spain, Jordan, Taiwan, Russia, Slovakia, Latvia, etc. The summer is over, but our connection is not. Proof of this is our constant chats, and I even visited one of them. A boy from Thailand introduced me to his culture and fed me delicious, traditional food. And that's how I realized that the Work and Travel USA program for me isn't even about work and travel, but about people and communication. Thanks to these acquaintances and friendships, my social circle has expanded, and my list of countries I want to visit now includes not just the countries themselves, but specific cities where my friends are. When I used to think that all people are different, I couldn't even imagine how much. Thanks to America and this program, I have a thirst for travel. I have become more uninhibited in my dreams; now I am not even afraid to set big goals, because I believe with all my heart that they will definitely come true. As the great Paulo Coelho said: "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." And with this, I just want to say thank you. These three months of summer changed my worldview and gave me a huge lesson that I will use for the rest of my life.

My love story with English-speaking countries and the English language began when I was 8 years old, when I had the chance to visit the amazing country of Ireland and stay with a wonderful family with two children and kind parents—true Irish people. I was incredibly impressed by their life: cozy cottage-style houses, neat streets, lawns the color of bright summer grass, indescribably beautiful valleys and cliffs, picturesque mountain landscapes towering high above the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, ruins of ancient castles, a climate so different from ours, and such delicious food. Even then, I had my first encounter with the ocean, the English language, people of a different faith and culture who surprised me with their habits and traditions, and a country so far from my native Belarus. Looking back at that time now, I am sure that it was then that the turning point occurred, which gave impetus to my choice of future profession (I am a future translator and linguist) and sparked in me a crazy love for travel and the melodic English language (English forever!). Of course, at the age of 8, when I knew almost no language, it was very difficult for me to communicate and understand the people around me, but the family I lived with helped me as much as they could and did everything to make me feel comfortable. It was the desire to break down the language barrier that soon became my main incentive for learning the language. Since then, I have often dreamed of visiting an English-speaking country again, getting the opportunity to communicate in another language, studying a foreign culture, and seeing unforgettable landscapes that inspire me immensely, having graduated from art school. I often saw myself in my dreams living in a cozy white house, with a dog, walking on green lawns again. And I believed: one day the moment would come when I could fulfill my dream again. After entering the Minsk State Linguistic University, I began to hear very often about students who go on exchange to different countries, travel on their own, or participate in university conferences, making short and sometimes long-term trips outside of Belarus. In my university, this is not uncommon, as the main priority for us is the study of foreign languages and international cultural exchange. I also often heard about trips to distant America. At that time, dreams of traveling to the States seemed so unattainable and unrealistic to me that I could only envy the guys who managed to visit there. Unfortunately, at that time, there were no friends in my circle who could tell me in detail about this trip and all the steps to achieve this goal. Everything changed in 2014 during an ordinary tram ride from university home. I met my former classmate, with whom we were separated into different groups after the 1st year. She was the one who shared her plans for a trip to the USA and all the details of this trip with me. And I thought: "Well, it's not that complicated and quite achievable!"

Although… I wouldn't have fallen asleep without it anyway, I'm too excited about the upcoming flight) My first experience) But for some reason, I'm not afraid at all. Right now, I'm only afraid of one thing: that I won't be able to understand my employer. So I'm sitting with a dictionary, looking up new words, expanding my vocabulary) 11:00 We are already at Heathrow. The flight to London went great) No incidents) I met some guys from Chelyabinsk!) I didn't even know I wasn't flying alone that day! I'm very happy about it, because it would have taken me a long time to figure out how to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4... We had to take a special bus. I wasn't sure until the very end, but in the end, I just trusted the guys. In any case, we had plenty of time. We've already walked around the shops here, but I'm so tired that the only thing I want right now is to get some sleep. That's what I'm going to do. 18:00 We are in America!! I still can't believe it) I'm so happy) Friends picked me up from the airport and we immediately drove to their place in Philadelphia, I'll stay with them for a week, and only after that will I go to Florida) I calculated and it turned out that today was 10 hours longer for me) After all, a day can have more than 24 hours!))

Is it only me that the sweet villainess fate loves to surprise? And not always pleasant ones. But they don't give much reason to be upset, in principle. As they say, I didn't really want it anyway =)) And why am I saying all this? =)) Today I arrived at my second job (as always breathless and late), said hi to Kisha, ate a little, then Paulos walks in and goes: - Oh I didn't know you've come - Now you know =) - Ok, have a good day - 0_0 In the end, he sent me home, basically. pfff! ? And in general, when people ask me about my plans for the near or not-so-near future, I usually blurt out something like: Well, I have a lot of plans in my head, and they all vary. I hope everything will somehow resolve itself. And it will! =)) It always does. And why the hell plan anything if everything can go down the drain? =)) I was calculating yesterday and today how much more money I could earn in the last few days, but if there are three days off at the first job, and the second one is so slow that they don't need me anymore... what's the point of dreaming? =)) And what's the funny part? I wanted to ask today to hire another girl from FSK, since Olya is leaving, I'm finishing up too, Mel isn't working this week... The joke is, I got fired myself =)) Not that I was fired, well, you get it =) ?And so I'm relatively on the home stretch - on the 14th I'm taking off to New York City, and from there wherever my eyes take me. I want to go everywhere =) And today we're going to the cluuuub. And yesterday I came home from work late and sleepy, and straight to the party =)) right in front of the house - how convenient =))) We celebrated Zamir's birthday, it was cool =)) I was drunk, even though I didn't drink. Hookah, damn it =))) I get so high from it =)) soooo.... what else.... I also started thinking that I have nowhere to live when I return to St. Petersburg, so I need a cool guy with a big apartment and a kind heart =))) hahaha =)) ?

And off we went! The night on the bus flew by, and by the next morning, we were already in Miami. We reached the hostel surprisingly quickly, even though we didn't even have a city map. You can always call the front desk and ask for directions or ask the locals if you have the address. By the way, throughout the entire trip, we didn't have a single map of any city!)))) I still don't understand how we survived!)) Anyway, I got distracted!) What was I talking about..? …Miami…)) Those who think there's nothing there but beaches and clubs are deeply mistaken! Miami has a very beautiful downtown, which I liked even more than the skyscrapers of New York. South Beach is home to the world's largest Art Deco district. Also, Miami has many museums, including the famous Museum of Contemporary Art. And the warm, azure ocean only adds to the charm of this place. I really want to recommend the hostel where we stayed! It's located in the very center of South Beach, just a 5-minute walk from the beach. They also provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all for just 30 dollars. But that's not even the main thing! You can get into the best clubs in Miami almost for free if you stay at the Miami Beach International Hostel! It works like this: they leave lists at the front desk, you sign yourself and your friends up, and you get a VIP pass to the club. Around 11 o'clock, everyone who wants to party gathers downstairs and heads to the party together. And instead of standing in line at face control, tipsy and disheveled students walk in through the VIP entrance, ignoring the envious looks of the crowd! For example, my friend and I got into Mansion, which is in the top 5 best clubs in the world... (at least that's what they claim themselves)))) and we only paid 5 dollars for entry!) I won't even try to describe this club. The fact that Lil Wayne performed there the next day, Snoop Dogg 3 days after us, and Paul van Dyk a week later explains everything better than words...)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't felt this much joy since I got a Sega!!)) AAAAAA!!!!!! London for free, no visas, no fees, no queues, etc. JUST LIKE THAT!!!))) We decided to spend the money we would have spent on a visa here instead)) We hop on the Tube and here we are at Hyde Park (I think). We head to Buckingham Palace, filming everything in sight (traffic lights for horses, buses, our own idiotic faces still grinning unrealistically after an hour on the subway, etc.). And suddenly I feel it starting to rub... Yes, rub... my new boot... The pain gets stronger and stronger, and after walking past real ducks and turkeys near the approach to Trafalgar Square, I realize I can't take it anymore. I take it off - a huge blister covering half my foot.. I take a "Sela" bag, take out the shoelace, and briskly step onto Trafalgar in one boot and a Sela bag))))) And the band-aids are all in the suitcases in New York!!! We go into a department store and see WISPA!!! It's not available anywhere else, only here at the last factory by consumer demand!!! AAAA what joy, but it's a pity to spend money, plus we have a full bag of chocolate ourselves)) We go back to the park for lunch, take out the food we thought to put in our carry-on (4 bags of dried fruit, chocolate, crackers, etc.=) and munch away in the sun. mmmm...... We return to Trafalgar, go to the National Gallery in one boot and a bag looking for a proper shoe cover)). Admission is free, apparently that's why there are no shoe covers either)) Or maybe it's just not the custom, who knows)) We get disappointed in art, go out to Trafalgar, walk to the Houses of Parliament, look at Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, (involuntarily remembering the 5th-grade English textbook: Westminster Abbey was founded...))) we walk back along the embankment, turn left - Trafalgar. We take the subway to see Tower Bridge, head back (all by subway) - we accidentally end up at Trafalgar. WHAT IS GOING ON!!! We get on the first double-decker bus we see just to get away from this damn Trafalgar Square. The bus does an 8-minute loop and returns to Trafalgar... We run in fear to the House, attend a session of the House of Commons, remember we forgot to stop by LSE, find out where it is - and guess where??))))))))))))) in short, Trafalgar is our home sweet home)) then we ride the London Eye, which is right in the city center, and at 10 PM (we left the airport at 11 AM) we barely drag ourselves to St. Paul's Cathedral. We don't even look. We check it off and drag our feet back. We really want to sleep. Really. And preferably sleep. We get on the train and pass out - we wake up at the terminal - Heathrow. Terminal 1. It's exactly the one where you can spend the night)) we sleep like homeless people on the seats, using the local sinks as a shower)) We wake up from the cold - angry but satisfied, we go to boarding. At the gate stands a controller (a fierce-looking guy), says "fight against terrorism, may I have your passports" We give them. He takes Anya's passport, looks carefully at Olya, at the passport, at Olya, nods his head, asks for the next one. This is Anya. But the passport is already Olya's. He looks. Says it's ok, says he loves it when everything goes smoothly))))) He takes mine, looks at me, we pass. Since then, Olya and Anya have been confused about 20 times. Employers, roommates, and even people on the streets ask if they are twins...))) Anyway, we board and 8 hours later - In New York!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!)))))))
