Manzil haqida

Ogunquit operates as a compact coastal walking town shaped by maritime trades, an early art colony, and dense summer foot traffic.

Colonists originally established sawmills and timber shipyards along the tidal river, launching schooners and dories. Fishermen working exposed Atlantic waters hauled their boats ashore each night until they manually dug a channel into the river basin. That cut created Perkins Cove, which now functions as a sheltered harbor spanned by a wooden pedestrian drawbridge connecting historic fish shacks with artist workshops.

Davomini oqish

A bridge across the river opened the barrier spit to painters, turning the fishing harbor into a recognized coastal art colony where painters worked directly beside lobstermen. Marginal Way was built along the ocean cliffs to link Perkins Cove with the broad sand beach. The village center later evolved into a prominent hub for gay and lesbian travelers, supporting independent inns, piano bars, and performance spaces.

Living here requires abandoning typical car routines. Severe vehicle congestion paralyses Shore Road and Main Street throughout the warm months, while municipal parking fills immediately and costs steep rates. The town functions primarily on foot, with sidewalks linking village cottages directly to the oceanfront. Seasonal workers and residents rely entirely on walking or the bell-signaled trolley network.

Bir paytlar men bilan ishlagan yigitlar yolg'iz qolganimni ko'rib, o'ynashga bolalar topishni maslahat berishdi. Ular menga shahar markazidagi joyni tekshirib ko'rishni maslahat berishdi. Bu Shore yo'lida joylashgan La Orilla nomli restoran edi, ispan tilida bu "qirg'oq" degan ma'noni anglatadi. Bu shu mavsumda Aleks va uning akasi Mett tomonidan ochilgan O'rta er dengizi taomlari restorani edi. Ular Ispaniyaga qilgan sayohatlaridan ilhomlanishgan. U erda ayollar va erkaklar tasvirlangan bo'yalgan quti bor edi, u za'faronning ehtirosini, qadim zamonlardan beri ziravor va to'q sariq rang sifatida ishlatilgan Crocus sativusning quritilgan stigmalarini anglatardi. Menga qatnashmoqchi bo'lgan ish tanlash imkoniyati berildi, masalan, xosting, bu o'tib ketayotgan odamlar bilan gaplashish bilan bog'liq edi, u erda men ularni va quyosh nurini pufakchalar puflash orqali ushlay olardim. Xostess stendi qalam bilan bo'yalgan o'simlik naqshlari bilan bezatilgan edi va bir marta men u erda yozilgan savolni payqadim: sevimli rangingiz qaysi? Keyin mening rang-barang o'yinim boshlandi. Men javob yozdim: Kamalak rangi. Keyin men tarvuzlar, uy qurilishi tuzlamalari, pomidor, qizil piyoz va anjir murabbosi kabi taomlardan ilhomlandim va Trellis bog'ida topgan sharob rangli dog'lar bilan bo'yalgan oq atirgullar, to'q qizil ranunkuluslar va qizil rennet olma novdalari bilan gul kompozitsiyalarini yaratdim. O'sha paytdan boshlab men ishlayotgan odamlardan keladigan nur hayotimning vitrajlarini yoritayotganini tushundim. Ushbu ishning yana bir imkoniyati oziq-ovqat yuguruvchisi sifatida ishlash edi, u oshxona bilan bog'liq edi, u erda ishlayotgan odamlar san'atga to'la, buni marigold barglari garniri va plitalardagi rasm kabi tafsilotlarda sezishingiz mumkin. Ular yaratilishning aniq nuqtasida edilar, ta'm va hidlarni aralashtirib yuborishdi. Ushbu restoranning maydonini tashkil etishning aqlli o'ylangan harakati shundan iborat ediki, dam olish xonasiga boy bo'lish uchun mehmonlar oshxonadan o'tishlari kerak edi, u erda osilib turish raqsga tushish, oziq-ovqat tajribasi bilan bo'lishish va pishirish jarayonida qatnashish imkoniyatini berdi. Bu joy bolalar va itlar uchun qulay edi, shuning uchun u quvonch va kulgiga to'la edi. Bir kuni xostess bo'lib ishlayotganimda, men skameykada o'tirib, kumush rulolar yasayotgan edim, tun qorong'uligi daraxtlar bo'ylab o'ralgan elektr chiroqlarining yumshoq miltillashi bilan yoritilgan edi, men aynan hozir bo'lishni xohlagan joyda ekanligimni his qildim. Bu qandaydir ajoyib cheksiz ziyofat edi, siz odamlarni baxtli qiladigan, ovqat, musiqa va o'zlaridan zavqlanadigan narsada qatnashayotganingizda. Ogunquitda qolgan oxirgi kunimda Aleks meni Portlendga olib ketdi, u erda uning yigiti menga pianino darsini berdi. Bu oqshom oq rus tiliga to'la edi va biz tungi uxlab yotgan port shahrining yo'llarida yalangoyoq velosiped haydadik. Ertasi kuni ertalab Glen meni Bostonga olib ketdi, u erda men MITda IDMga murojaat qilish haqida gaplashish uchun uchrashuvim bor edi, shundan so'ng men keyingi ta'limim haqida nima qilishim kerakligini bildim.

Moviy

Dastlabki ikki hafta davomida men uy-joy va ish masalalarini hal qildim. Ogunquit – sayyohlik shahri, shuning uchun ko‘chmas mulk va uning ijarasi yozgi mavsumda hozirgi kurs bo‘yicha juda qimmat. Agar siz bu haqda oldindan qayg‘urmagan bo‘lsangiz, yagona variant – sizga uy-joy taqdim etadigan ish topish edi. Muammo shundaki, bu narsalar bir-biriga bevosita bog‘liq va siz u yerda ishlaganingizdagina yashashingiz mumkin. I chose to go by my own to get deeper in to entire American culture to feel the whole experience living in US. I avoided Russian people, trying to communicate only with local ones. It was very helpful to learn language as well, so at this point I think that the best way to talk about US is to talk in English. In the first part of a day I helped two gay guys in the small bed and breakfast inn called Trellis house. Owners are Laurence and Glen. Laurence activity was connected to staffing, human resources and recruitment; he worked in Warner Bros., The Walt Disney Company, and Digital Domain in LA; and then 10 years as Vice President of Global Employment at Nuance Communications, a speech recognition software company in Boston. Glen directed Theater at Campbell Hall, a private K-12 school in Studio City, California. So as I figured out their previous work was full of stress, and now despite being engaged in this business with full-time availability, they enjoyed spending summer doing there job in the best way and making people happy. On there website it’s written that they have put their heart into renovating and thoughtfully handling Trellis house and it’s very true. Space of their inn is smart organized, they renewed design, let the fresh sea breeze into old-fashioned stuffy rooms. They gave new life to old things by restoration, beautiful colorful painting and patterns of textile. As for me it was the first place I’ve ever seen where something white was really white for long, plates, cups, towels, blankets, garden furniture – everything were shinning with whiteness and cleanness. So actually helping them about the house was delightful for me, I didn’t feel this job like routine, it was so naturally and it seemed like I was at home. Laurence loves cooking so breakfast was the way he could express himself while creating. He has great taste of everything including food and the point that he was cared about guests preferences made the breakfast important part of their experience staying at the Trellis house. Ones I’ve heard in the breakfast room about his cooking, what every food with his love in this harmonic atmosphere is the best they ever tried. Even people that didn’t want to have their breakfast or any special dish were like: «I am an allergic to grapefruits.. Well, actually I just don’t like them.. But your grapefruit Brule look so gorgeous; can I try just a little? Oh, and what about the whole thing?» And then of course they joined the second course.. Laurence was inspired by people and nature around, so he grown some bunches of blueberries, and made with them traditional Main breakfast with blueberry pancakes and sausages. Many guests were asking to share recipes and according to their advices now he is thinking about publishing his own cookbook. As well important part of my job was turning down service, it was about drawing curtains, leaving sweets and flowers in rooms before night. Laurence baked by himself and let me making some cakes as well. It was a great lesson and he showed me my usual mistake about creating pastry by telling that the main point of baking is that it is an exact thing so you just have to follow the recipe directly. They had a thought about Ogunquit that it is the place where sea meets garden, so I were very grateful to take part in gardening and making flower arrangements as well. It was my way of coloring world, creating, expressing and finding balance at the same time. As Laurence is a great teacher about external world, Glen helped me with finding harmony inside and figuring out
