The skyscraper stands in the Yekaterinburg-City business district as the tallest building in the city. The tower became the tallest overall structure locally following the demolition of the unfinished television tower nearby ahead of the world football tournament.

German architect Werner Sobek designed the tower after winning an international design competition against the French architecture firm Valode & Pistre Architectes. Industrial group UGMK Holdings managed the development of the skyscraper.
