About the place

Leningradsky railway station anchors the northern rail corridor out of Moscow from its position on Komsomolskaya Square.

The terminal stands on Komsomolskaya Square as the Moscow departure point for trains heading toward Saint Petersburg. Architect Konstantin Thon planned the structure with an Italianate façade and a central clocktower, matching the architectural styling of the northern terminus in Saint Petersburg. The station remains the only rail terminal in the capital operated directly by the October Railway division rather than the Moscow network.

Direct concourses channel passenger streams straight into Komsomolskaya Metro Station. Daily commuters rely on this subterranean connection to reach the subway network, while ongoing transit hub redevelopment projects expand passenger space across the shared square.
