The Scuola Grande di San Rocco preserves the complete decorative cycle painted by Tintoretto across its assembly halls.

Wealthy citizens established the confraternity under the patronage of San Rocco as protection against plague, selecting ground beside the church that held the saint's relics. Successive architects directed construction, passing the commission from Pietro Bon to Sante Lombardo, Antonio Scarpagnino, and Giangiacomo dei Grigi. Tintoretto covered the interior with his defining pictorial cycle.
