Kingda Ka: ce qu’il y a autour, comment y aller et quand venir · 2026

Living near Jackson puts you next to major theme park developments, where flagship engineering projects shape the local rhythm and draw transient seasonal crowds.

À propos du lieu

Hydraulic launch engineering set global records on this ride before park redevelopment prompted permanent dismantling.

Six Flags Great Adventure operated Kingda Ka in Jackson as the tallest strata coaster structure anywhere, reaching peak height via a rapid hydraulic launch. Designed by Werner Stengel and manufactured by Intamin, the steel layout incorporated a signature airtime hill on its return track alongside an integrated drop tower experience.

Complex launch machinery demanded a dedicated maintenance team and forced extended operational shutdowns after mechanical failures. Clear weather yielded sweeping views toward New York City and Philadelphia from the summit, but structural maintenance and new park expansions ultimately concluded the attraction run ahead of complete removal.

Associations
  • Intamin designThe Swiss firm engineered both the hydraulic launch mechanism and structural layout.
  • Skyline vistasRiders caught direct sightlines across to Philadelphia and New York City.
  • Maintenance downtimeSpecialized machinery caused prolonged closures during operating seasons.
Faits
  • The structure stood at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.
  • Intamin engineered the ride using hydraulic launch technology and Werner Stengel provided the design.
  • The return track featured an airtime hill distinguishing it from similar strata coaster installations.
  • Park management closed the ride permanently to clear space for subsequent roller coaster construction.

America hasn't gone anywhere, or my first flight abroad

Now for the most interesting part of my story: the travel!!! What I managed to see and feel was our first trip to the world-famous Niagara Falls. It is the most powerful waterfall in North America, located between Canada and the USA. Its height is 53 meters and its width is 323 meters. Just imagine the power of this natural energy; after this, the Turgen Waterfall will seem like a mere stream. And the night view of the waterfall, where various lanterns shine from the Canadian side at night, is simply an indescribable sight of indescribable beauty. We stayed at the “Days INN” hotel for 2 days, which was very cozy. On the first day, we walked through all the parks of Niagara Falls, and on the second day, we managed to fly in a helicopter over Niagara Falls. By the way, this was also a first in my life, and it is something I recommend to future participants. The second point of our trip was the capital of America, Washington, D.C., where we managed to visit museums and walk along the avenues of the capital. This city reminded me of Astana: everyone in suits, businessmen and representatives of various companies, everything seemed very official. The third point was the real roller coasters at “SIX FLAGS” in the state of New Jersey. We managed to ride all the scariest attractions in this park. Especially KINGDA KA, which is the tallest and second-fastest roller coaster in the world. It is a huge rush of adrenaline and unforgettable sensations that will remain for a lifetime. And finally, the last pre-departure point of our trip ended in New York City. When we arrived, we didn't manage to stay in the city for a couple of days because we immediately went to Bethany Beach, but at the end of the season, I specifically dedicated a week to this big city. I walked through Central Park, visited museums, and walked around the night city with friends. Times Square is especially beautiful at night, as well as the rooftops, the Statue of Liberty, and many, many other attractions that will remain in my memory forever. But this is just the beginning of my journey, as there is still the western part of America, where many have not been, including myself. So, friends, America is not going anywhere, and it is eagerly waiting for all of us. I am very happy for the opportunity provided by IEC to discover America, to discover the World. Thank you all and good luck.

Six Flags Second Time, New Jersey

Yay!! I'm back here again, back at Six Flags!! This place hooked me so much that I just had to come back!!! There was also one roller coaster that kept pulling me in... I didn't say a word about it last time. Its name is El Toro. We were told right away that this wooden wonder is the coolest coaster of them all! And you know how upset we were when we found out it wasn't working?? I'd say I was even outraged!! But that's when I realized I'd come back here again because I wanted to ride that coaster! And I did it! Liza came to visit me in New York and she really wanted to go to the park. Well, what was I supposed to do, she wants to go, I want to go?? Of course, onward to adventures!!))) Vovka came with us too, and our little group set off to meet Bugs Bunny!!! It was already September, I'd say it wasn't hot at all and we were already wearing warm sweaters, but when we got off the bus in Jersey, we realized we were in for a wonderful day without sweaters, full of sun. I really thought Six Flags orders its own weather! Because in September the park is only open once a week, and is it possible that the weather is always this glorious?? That's just great!!! By the way, I forgot to say, definitely check out your hilariously funny photos with distorted faces at the exit of the rides))) We bought a couple, such a memory. So, El Toro!! It's an incomparable coaster!! I was scared!! A lot!!))) but it's worth riding!! It's long, wooden, and awesome!!)) I also rode the coasters that stayed in my memory as the coolest - Kingda Ka, Nitro, Medusa. I recommend them to everyone!! This time it went almost without adventures) The funniest thing is that without planning it, I met a friend in the park, he even lived in another state!!))) I was shocked)) And also! Don't get lost in the park! It's hard to find each other later! Or rather, no one will help you, I don't know why they don't have a lost and found for people)) I wandered around the park for a long time looking for Liza and Vova and by a miracle we found each other at the exit. El Toro - forever In the photo is Kingda Ka
