Всем привет! Скажу сразу, что все подтолкнувшее меня на поездку- это продукция полусонного мозга. Потому что лучшие идеи стучат оглоблей по моему уставшему черепу именно посреди ночи. Так и в этот раз, я с воплем «Натааааш, а если…» начала излагать свои думы спящей подруге, часа этак, в 2 ночи. Эти бесноватые тараканы в голове не дают мне сидеть на месте! Я довольно долго не могла определиться нужно ли мне это. Даже приходила в офис ЦМО чтобы выйти из программы! Уговорили остаться, помогли. Спасибо, Марина и Ксюша!!! Все произошедшие события, которые подводили меня к поездке в Америку, всего лишь череда случайностей. Но, как многие из нас знают, случайности не случайны… Ездила я одна, и ничуть не жалею! Не бойтесь ехать одни, это очень интересно! Правда! Это прекрасная возможность познакомиться и подружиться с новыми людьми, это реально круто! И я наслышана историями, как люди по году не общались со своими лучшими друзьями, после совместных поездок в штаты. Так что, ни в коем случае не бойтесь отправляться в одиночку! Это Америка, вы точно не останетесь одни! Итак, начну с вылета… Часть 1. Москва- Нью-Йорк. Как человек разумный, я предварительно спланировала весь свой путь следования от лифта в подъезде, до входа в хостел в Нью-Йорке. А вот как человек- растыка, я не перепроверила расписание аэроэкспресса, и выехала в аэропорт прилично позже, чем рассчитывала. В итоге, ужасно опаздывала на рейс, и когда началась посадка, я еще стояла в огромной очереди на паспортном контроле, а потом буквально бежала к самолету поднимая пыль! Поэтому приезжайте раньше, лучше посидите в аэропорту или пробегитесь по магазинчикам, или еще что-нибудь! Главное- раньше, минимум за 2,5 часа! У меня все обошлось, успела заскочить в самолет, и таки взмыла в воздух серебристой стрелой, с остальными тремястами пассажирами. Спустя 8 часов мы начали снижаться… О, этот вид! Усеянный небоскребами Манхеттен и поблескивающий где-то внизу Гудзон! «В зобу дыханье сперло»- это единственная, тождественная моим ощущениям от увиденного, фраза! В аэропорту сориентироваться было довольно просто, такси решила не брать, а воспользоваться метро. Схема вполне понятна, ничего сверхъестественного. Америка встретила хорошей, очень теплой и солнечной погодой, такой, что в процессе брождений я умудрилась обгореть. В Нью-Йорке забронировала место в замечательном хостеле на Лонг Айленде, в котором был свободный выход на крышу (внимание) с видом на Манхеттен!!! Забросила свои вещички в комнату, и ринулась в самую гущу небоскребов. Нью-Йорк конечно же прекрасен, но невозможно не заметить вездесущие неприятные запахи, грязь, бездомных (одна мне, кстати, чуть не наваляла при попытке ее сфотографировать) и мусор на тротуарах. Ах да, и крысы, снующие под ногами- тоже омрачают впечатление о городе. Да, они там носятся по улицам царапая асфальт! В остальном же, этот город чарует! Центральный парк, набережная, Крайслер билдинг, Таймс сквер, Бруклинский и Манхеттенский мосты- это то, что непременно стоит увидеть в своей жизни, хотя бы раз! Мост Куинсборо, кстати, тоже довольно красив. Отдельно хочется сказать про Центральный парк, он что-то вроде оазиса в каменных джунглях, уходя все дальше в его глубины, забываешь что ты находишься в мегаполисе. Здесь тихо, спокойно и совсем иная атмосфера…умиротворения. Люди здесь бегают, ездят на велосипедах, занимаются йогой, гуляют с собаками, устраивают пикники, играют в бейсбол, да просто валяются на газоне ничего не делая. Что очень заметно сразу после приезда- здесь всем абсолютно плевать на то, как кто-то выглядит, люди не парятся об этом вообще! Девушки размеров Х+ совершенно не имеют комплексов, да и мужчины тоже. Мятая ли, грязноватая ли рубашка- всем плевать. И это сразу заметно. Я бродила по закоулкам, казалось, всего Манхеттена, забредала в Чайна таун, район Челси , и многие другие места. So, let's get started ;) This time I packed very few things (which I've already regretted a hundred times). Oh well, my trip started in the Big Apple, and this time I decided not to take a taxi, but to try and get to the center on my own two feet. Oh guys, it's really hard to do that with a suitcase. But, hooray, I made it. I found my hotel, checked in, although there were some problems with the room at first (it smelled disgusting and there were huge stains on the ceiling), thankfully the receptionist changed my room. I had a whole day to return to the hustle and bustle of this unusually flawless city. I decided to visit the places I didn't have time to see last year. That is, of course, Madame Tussauds. Aaaaa, guys, this is just an awesome place. My dream came true just the way it should. These wax figures look so much like the real stars. I even got them mixed up a couple of times =D Jackie Chan, Robert Pattinson, Obama, Charlie, etc. are standing a millimeter away from you, it's great, such art, god, no words. The only thing that wasn't very cool was the lighting; I had to adjust the camera for every exhibit.(( After that, I headed to Times Square, unbridled fun, laughter from all sides, comic book heroes, naked cowboys, living statues... Those of you who have me on Instagram (http://instagram.com/frecklealex), you saw a couple of weirdos in the video ;) I also visited M&M's World, two whole floors of these red, yellow, green, blue, orange nuts. What isn't there, figurines, locks, notebooks, dishes, towels, pajamas... a paradise for children. Parents, protect your wallets.)) On the same day, I visited Chelsea Park, very small, but so beautiful with access to the water, and in the distance, lights, lights, lights. So romantic.) Millions of thoughts flashed through my head on how to run away from there, but the fatigue after the flight and the busy day overcame the fear. Actually, everything was fine, in the morning I safely left for the bus station... With a large but light suitcase, I headed to the center of Newark for Greyhound. I safely sat down far from the driver and spread my things out on both seats as much as possible so that no one could sit next to me. Yes, I am mean and insidious. But what do you think, a woman comes in here and kindly asks me if the seat is taken. damn. Of course, I gave up the seat, but I didn't pay attention to the dimensions of this lady... I have never seen such women before, only if in the movie "Big Momma's House". Now you roughly imagine my shock, and how I was flattened against the window. Further, American films are resting... she took out a big fat donut covered in powdered sugar and began to eat it furiously and wash it down with a liter of coffee. I was just stunned by such a show. Night. The alarm rings. I just laid down, and now I have to wake up. The suitcase is ready, I just need to pack the small essentials into my carry-on. A call from a friend. They are already on their way. My God! Is this really happening, and is it not a dream! Now we are at the airport. My closest and most important people are by my side. They are seeing me off on a distant and exciting journey that will later change me completely. My travel companion arrived with a crowd of people seeing her off, and once we were on the other side of our friends, we met two cool guys from Karaganda. Thinking about a one-night stay in the capital of the world, where we were supposed to go first, we decided to stay with these guys, considering them harmless and safe. After a successful five-hour flight, we arrived at Vnukovo and started calling our family and friends to tell them we were okay. Preparing for a long journey (11 hours of flight across the ocean), I couldn't hide my excitement. Soon, it was diluted by two more cheerful guys who joined us while we waited. At first, we didn't like them at all, all those unnecessary antics and showing off (OMG, who came up with the idea of showing off in front of girls, thinking that they would grow in our eyes?!). But soon we found common ground with them and, being on the plane, sat together. The 11 hours passed very quickly. We played various games, slept, listened to music, learned a lot of new things, and to our surprise, found a lot in common with our new companions. After thinking it over with my friend, we finally decided that Shakarim and Nurken would accompany us in New York—that was the names of our latest friends. Leaving JFK airport, we were immediately greeted by people with signs who suggested we take a bus to Manhattan, which cost $32 each. And here we are. We looked through the bus windows at daytime New York as if we had never been touched by civilization. With our mouths open in surprise and admiration, we, of course, started taking pictures of everything on our iPhones and iPads. After dropping us off in a place we didn't understand, we started looking for the cheapest hostel. We walked around the same street probably 5 times! Walking around in circles, asking passersby for the nearest hostel in our broken English, and with huge, heavy suitcases, we were completely exhausted. Seeing a policeman, I immediately turned to him for help. "Sir, could you tell me the cheapest hostel nearby?" I asked. "Honey, this is New York—the most expensive city in the world, and by the way, we are currently in Manhattan—the most expensive district of this city. To find a cheap shelter, you'll have to go to another city." This sharp and at the same time not very cheerful answer made us think. Could it be that we won't find the shelter we need so much today?! And at that very moment, when we were completely saddened, my travel companion and, after this trip, my friend, found that very cheapest hostel—"Chelsea Star Hostel". That's where we landed. A daily stay for 4 people in a small room with 2 beds and a private shower cost us $152. After leaving our suitcases, having lunch, and washing up after the flight, we set off to get to know a tasty piece of America—New York. Since we stayed in Manhattan, we spent our whole day there. We didn't use any public transport and decided to walk everywhere. Not forgetting our final destination called Maine, Old Orchard Beach, the first thing we did was head to the Greyhound station, where we bought tickets for the next day. Our boys also bought tickets: one to Virginia Beach, the other to Massachusetts. It was just amazing! We sat on the famous red stairs looking at huge advertisements on big screens, taking selfies together, we rode around Central Park in an insanely beautiful carriage with a kind and pleasant Turkish coachman, we even managed to eat at McDonald's, after which my friend threw up right on the street in front of passersby! Finally, after such a trip, I made it to New York. Thank God, during my layover in Washington, I met two other outcasts like me from Russia who had absolutely no idea where they were going to sleep in the Big Apple or what to do at all. The shock started when we took off from Washington. That was when I saw the full scale of what was happening. We landed. The weather didn't seem the most favorable. However, despite the clouds and occasional rain, it was very hot—that's the local climate for you. We arrived at the Port Authority. And that's where the most interesting part begins. Broadway, Madison Square Garden, NY Subway. And this is my first trip abroad. Who would have known what I was feeling in those first few hours. We decided not to waste time and look for a hostel for the night. I found an ad for a hostel on Amsterdam Avenue. After giving a strange taxi driver 12 bucks, we walked into a lively hostel. After the question: “Do you have a reservation?”, we were a bit bummed out, as there were no free beds. A friendly African-American girl with a Muslim crescent and star tattoo on her arm started calling other hostels. After a long conversation, she said there were 3 spots at the Chelsea International Hostel. No choice, we took the subway there. The subway is a separate topic. A hundred times livelier than the Moscow one. Not in terms of the flow of people or the crowd size, but how people behave in the subway. It turns out that Chelsea is not far from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, where we came from. We arrived and checked in. I was put in a room with two German girls. When I arrived, they weren't there. I took a shower and just as I lay down to sleep, they came in. I said a few words to them through my sleep, something like: hi, i’m only for one night, and only for sleep. Hearing an 'ok' in response, I passed out. Morning started with rain. A proper, short-lived rain. I woke up before the girls. I lay there for a long time, then one of them woke up. We had a nice chat, I told her why I came and where I was from. And she shared her impressions of Russia in return; she had been to St. Petersburg once and complained about the terrible cold, talking about -16 with wind. And I told her that where I live, it even gets to -30. Then a nice breakfast. You walk up and get a bagel with jam, butter, and an apple, then you make yourself coffee or juice of your choice, you could also have cereal. Overall, everything is very pleasant and civilized. Next stop - Port Authority again, from where I am writing this post. I don't want to say goodbye to New York, I've ended up in a dream. But what can you do, it's time to go to Lake George.
