Living near Jiřího z Poděbrad Square places this landmark on your daily route between quiet residential avenues and metro transfers.
The Roman Catholic church stands at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square in the residential Vinohrady district. Slovene architect Jože Plečnik designed the structure by drawing directly from early Christian and classical ancient patterns. The resulting building departs from conventional regional gothic styles, establishing a distinct focal point for neighbourhood gatherings and daily transit.
Inside the sanctuary, Czech sculptor Damian Pešan produced the statues of Christ and local patron saints mounted above the main altar. Pešan also crafted the liturgical vessels used during Catholic services. Long-term residents encounter the active parish building as a quiet interior refuge from the bustling urban perimeter and metro station exits.
