Сент-Луіс... або атрымлівайце асалоду ад паездкі па Route 66

З'язджаць з Кі-Уэст зусім не хацелася, але ўсё добрае рана ці позна заканчваецца.. Нам трэба было правесці 34 гадзіны ў аўтобусе, каб патрапіць у St. Louis. Шчыра кажучы, я не планавала наведваць гэты горад, але перасекчы ўсю Амерыку з усходу на захад без прыпынкаў было б проста немагчыма. Прыехалі мы рана раніцай і першай справай пабеглі мыцца ў туалет.. Хоць «мыцца» гэта гучна сказана! Калі ўдаецца пачысціць зубы і памыць галаву – гэта ўжо шчасце. Так-так, ніхто не памыліўся, я сказала памыць галаву.. Мыць галаву ў ракавіне, а потым сушыць пад сушылкай для рук – не самы вясёлы занятак, але ў нас проста не было выбару. Зрэшты, гэта ўсяго толькі дробныя нязручнасці. Горад не вельмі нам спадабаўся, мы дабраліся да галоўнай славутасці – Gateway Arch – гэта велізарная арка на беразе Місісіпі, якая сімвалізуе вароты на Захад. Пасля Blue Ridge дарога яшчэ нейкі час вядзе нас па рэштках Great Smokies, а затым выкочваецца на Кентуккійскія раўніны. Калі шчыра, зразумела гэта становіцца толькі з-за знакаў "Welcome to Kentucky" і Кентуккійскіх нумароў. Так - усё як нейкая Саратаўская вобласць)) Тут ёсць адно крутое месца - самая доўгая пячора ў свеце, Mammoth Cave. Мы самі не былі, але пасля наведвання іншай пячоры (пра яе пазней) і зносін з гідам, зразумелі, што яна павінна быць вельмі крутая. Па фотках, падобна, і праўда так.. А мы ямо ў мясцовым KFC (а як жа інакш)) і едзем далей. Потым Ілінойс з нязменнай карцінкай за акном і дурным абмежаваннем на трасах (мы, вядома, едзем не павольней, чым звычайна, але так хутка адносна іншых ехаць непрыемна=)). Наперадзе Місуры каля месца ўпадзення ў Місісіпі і Сент-Луіс. Оо, думаем, вялікая рака... Тут жа даведваемся мінімальныя ў Амерыцы патрабаванні, каб лічыцца такой. Высвятляецца, што вялікай ракой тут лічыцца рака, шырынёй максімум паў Нявы ў месцы ўпадзення ў Фінскі заліў або як Волга ля самых яе вытокаў. Сент-Луіс прыкольны, але набярэжная прамысловая, а сам брудны, а так нічога, атмасфера нібы нейкая ёсць. Аднак, спяшаемся, таму не вельмі ловім, якая менавіта) Потым выязджаем наогул на прамую, якая вядзе роўненька на захад. Тут жа адзнака, што мы ўжо як у 1,5 км над узроўнем мора. Неблага. Дэнвер - так сабе гарадок. Нічога прыкметнага, акрамя адсутнасці Bank of America. Ён тут чамусьці забаронены. Так што застаёмся без наяўных. Спім і едзем на наступны дзень у Rocky Mountains.
