关于此地
Metropolitan policing across London centres on New Scotland Yard, directing territorial law enforcement across the municipal boroughs.
The headquarters coordinates territorial policing across the capital boroughs while excluding the historic financial core and the railway network. Those separate zones fall under the City of London Police and the British Transport Police. The institution took its popular name from the rear entrance on Great Scotland Yard, where mounted branches kept stables. Detective work and administrative operations grew from that lane.

Architectural expansion shifted operations toward Victoria Embankment into riverside offices designed by Richard Norman Shaw. Construction at that Embankment site uncovered unsolved forensic remains known as the Whitehall Mystery. Beyond administrative functions, the headquarters shaped the detective genre in print and film, from Victorian serials to early sound cinema, establishing an enduring metonym for British criminal investigation.
