Mount Baume stands above glaciated terrain near the southern reaches of the island.
The peak rises along the northern flank of Novosilski Glacier toward the southeastern end of the island. Field surveyors with the South Georgia Survey mapped the ridge and named the summit after expedition member Louis C. Baume. Glacial ice surrounds the approaches, demanding specialized alpine route-finding across rugged terrain.
