Rebuilt under Tiberius following a destructive urban fire, the surviving structure retains standing Corinthian columns resting on an older podium. The monument previously housed the state treasury alongside the imperial office for weights and measures.

Senate assemblies convened within the temple halls, while public magistrates addressed assemblies directly from the raised front podium. Archaeological excavations in the drainage channels revealed that commercial chambers beneath the stone foundation piers accommodated local practitioners, including a dental practice. Centuries later, architects George Dance and Piranesi surveyed the ruin to document classical Corinthian design.
