About the place

A former naval academy stands as the administrative heart of the regional presidency.

Builders placed the structure outside the old city walls on land once controlled by the Inquisition tribunal. The original maritime guild used the complex to shelter orphaned children and prepare them for naval careers. Rising maintenance costs later forced maritime administrators to abandon the site. Private rail developers and literary faculties attempted to run operations here before mounting upkeep prompted another change in ownership.

Exiled French royalty acquired the estate and turned it into a private palace while disputing royal inheritance claims with the crown. The estate later transferred to church authorities for use as a seminary, while its expansive private grounds were deeded to the municipality to form the central public park. Today the complex functions as the executive headquarters of the regional government following extensive restoration.
