Office workers based in the Loop trade residential calm for immediate transit access and winter commutes through sheltered downtown corridors.
The architectural practice Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates planned the office tower to replace the central Greyhound Bus Station in the Loop. Prior to the end of construction, the project earned the Best Building Architecture Award from The Chicago Athenaeum, presented to lead designer Kevin Flanagan. Commuters access the workplace directly from downtown pedestrian corridors, which connect commercial tenants to core city transit lines.
Corporate relocation altered downtown naming conventions when Chicago Title and Trust departed its historic premises on West Washington. That vacated headquarters took the name Burnham Center, while the newer Loop skyscraper assumed primary commercial operations and later adopted the name Grant Thornton Tower. Professionals based here navigate dense business traffic, strict lobby security checkpoints, and surrounding street-level noise.
