Mudam: what's nearby, how to get there and when to go · 2026
Kirchberg workers step directly from institutional offices into contemporary exhibition galleries and historic fortress grounds during midday breaks.
Mudam integrates contemporary gallery spaces into the historic stone walls of Fort Thüngen on the Kirchberg plateau.
Architect I. M. Pei designed the museum structure to connect directly with Fort Thüngen inside Dräi Eechelen Park. Because public modernist holdings were unavailable during development, the institution committed its collection entirely to contemporary artists. Permanent holdings feature works by Andy Warhol, Bruce Nauman, Julian Schnabel, Thomas Struth, and Daniel Buren.
