Über den Ort

Mudam integrates contemporary gallery spaces into the historic stone walls of Fort Thüngen on the Kirchberg plateau.

Architect I. M. Pei designed the museum structure to connect directly with Fort Thüngen inside Dräi Eechelen Park. Because public modernist holdings were unavailable during development, the institution committed its collection entirely to contemporary artists. Permanent holdings feature works by Andy Warhol, Bruce Nauman, Julian Schnabel, Thomas Struth, and Daniel Buren.

The museum stands beside European Union institutions on the Kirchberg plateau, making the surrounding park grounds a regular lunchtime route for district workers. Inside the facility, Mudam Boutique stocks specialized art publications alongside designer objects, while Mudam Café prepares vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free meals.
