Myrtle Beach. Part 1

Where I worked: sold Italian Ice at Family Kingdom Amusement Park Where I lived: Peggy Ann Motel I flew from New York airport with Spirit Airlines to Myrtle Beach airport. The flight was delayed by 2 hours. I didn't really enjoy flying with this airline, so if possible, use another one. The city airport is small and quiet. Stepping outside, I realized that I had accounted for the hot climate, but not for the nearly 100% humidity. Subtropics! Frequent rains, hurricanes. So, if you are going to Myrtle Beach, buy a good raincoat and waterproof shoes. As for public transport, I only saw two buses: one tourist bus - free, and another one running on a circular route (I didn't use either). I got to the motel by Uber - it was convenient and fast. Upon arrival at the motel, I had to wait a while for the owner to get the key and sign the contract. Therefore, agree on your arrival time with your landlord in advance. Tired after many hours of flying, I still found the strength to read the contract carefully and ask questions, but I didn't ask for a copy, which is very important to do! The contract may contain terms and rules of residence, the violation of which may result in you or your neighbors not getting the deposit back or being evicted. For anyone who hasn't lived in a dormitory, it will be stressful to share a room, a refrigerator, use a public bathroom, and encounter cockroaches, regardless of whether it's a private house or a motel. I lived in a student dormitory for 3 years and was absolutely calm about everything except cleaning. Try to agree with your neighbors on a schedule for taking out the trash and washing dishes. It's not always possible to reach an agreement with everyone. "Cultural difference" - that's how I explained my neighbors' behavior to myself, but there was also a big plus in this. The mentality of everyone who arrived is different. And yet, I was very lucky to spend the summer among guys from all over the world: China, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Ukraine, Mexico, Colombia, Lithuania, Jamaica, Jordan, Turkey, Poland, and Russia, of course. If I didn't talk to some of them closely, I learned about their culture from others, heard their language while passing by, and could already distinguish it by ear. The international company helped me chat more often in English about everyday topics, overcome the language barrier, try local dishes, learn new foreign words and traditions, and discover new countries while communicating. That is why, thanks to "Cultural difference", my summer was so memorable. In the first few days, you will need to apply for a Social Security Number (SSN) and a bank card. I heard that the student center helps students with this, but I went everywhere myself. Walking from my hotel was long, about an hour, but I had time, and I didn't want to rent a bicycle because my workplace was very close to "home", and a taxi was expensive. Later, I borrowed a bicycle from friends. (When riding a bicycle in the urban environment of Myrtle Beach, you need to be careful - emergencies and falls are not uncommon. So, follow all safety measures). Since the Social Security Administration and the Bank of America office are nearby, you can do everything in one visit. Everything turned out to be simple; it was enough to ask the employees or visitors. To get a number, you had to get an electronic ticket, fill out a form that I asked the security guard for, and then give it and your passport to the employee at the window. At the bank, you had to queue up, telling the girl at the entrance the purpose of your visit, then one of the specialists invited me to the office and, following his instructions, I opened an account. After that, he went with me to the ATM, used my temporary card, and asked for a $25 deposit to put into the account. At the same time, they do not burn out, but are available, that is, opening a card is free. Why do you need a bank card? To cash your paychecks quickly and conveniently. In the States

Chapter 7: Theft in the church.

Chapter 7: Theft in the church. Rehoboth Beach is called the "Summer Capital of America" by Americans. The reason for this name is that people from Washington mostly come here to relax. The city's residents are kind and cheerful. A united association of churches operates here. They provide free bicycles and free food for international students who come from abroad. This generosity lasts every year from May 27 to September 2. Consequently, many students from all over the world come to this city. At first, the free bicycles distributed ran out. I arrived in Rehoboth Beach on May 27. On that day, the Epworth United Methodist Church was serving dinner, but I didn't make it. Here, churches help not only with free food and bicycles, but also with accommodation, and some even help find work. After spending one night in an expensive hotel on the day I arrived in the city, I went to my job, but I didn't hear any good news there either. The person who sold us the "Job offer" sold one person's job to two people. "We will split the 40 hours into 20/20 hours for both of you. So keep looking for another job for yourself," he said. My position was a kitchen assistant. To be honest, the Greek employers didn't like me after I arrived. And I didn't like the job either. Hot items, sharp knives, it was very possible to get injured at any time. In addition, they rush you, saying do it fast, do it fast. Right here, I will reveal a secret: this is a situation typical of many workplaces. Because the salary here is paid by the hour. Therefore, it is profitable for American employers to make the workers do the work quickly and send them home. If you finish the work quickly, they praise you and rush to send you home. As a result, many people do the work poorly. My friend Akbar does all the work quickly, but the quality is not satisfactory. When I am doing the work slowly, they praise Akbar for doing everything fast, but when they see poorly washed dishes, they scold him for doing everything in a hurry and not doing it right. As for me, I do every job carefully. In return, it takes a lot of time. As a result, I was constantly receiving warnings that "You work very slowly." Of course, I could have done it sloppily like Akbar, but it is not profitable for me. First, the risk of injury increases when doing the work quickly. Second, you get tired. Third, you will have fewer hours. After you finish the work you are supposed to do, they praise you and send you home. Since your hours are few, your salary is also low. And the understanding here is "Time is money!". That is why I deliberately dragged out the time at work. Later, the Bulgarian guys and girls who worked with me at the hotel also scolded me to finish faster. They themselves do everything quickly, and then come home and sit around smoking. Then, every two weeks when they receive their paycheck, they complain to each other in their own language that "our salary is low." And thanks to the fact that I deliberately dragged out the time, I received a little more than them. My Greek bosses didn't like this behavior of mine. However, Greeks are a fast-moving people. 27-year-old Irene and her father, 65-year-old George Vrentzos, move very quickly. When I went to St. Edmund's Catholic Church, they also offered me a free bicycle, but I didn't take it because I couldn't ride a bicycle. After arriving in America, one of the issues that needs to be solved urgently is registering in SEVIS, and after our status there is "Active", going to the nearby Social Security Office and applying for a Social Security Card. Many students apply without their status in SEVIS being "Active" and end up not being able to get their Social Security Card for a long time. This is a very important document in America. Without this, you can't find a second job! After solving the apartment issue, the issue of applying for a Social Security Card remained for me. On May 29, I agreed with a Lithuanian girl named Justina, whom I met at the Lu

Unforgettable trip and study in the UK, London

The picture shown above was taken in Cambridge town near well-known Cambridge university press. As the UK is very popular with such historical places as Cambridge University. I understood only one thing, this is that London is actually tremendous city which needs more than a week in order to visit all three parts of London, precisely city, west, and east parts. The best days of my life I spent with keenly nice and helpful people in the academy. I enjoyed my studying whilst I was in the UK. It was extremely catching to share your experience and knowledge with the students from different countries and nationalities. In my group I was lucky to make friends from Wales, Canada, Arabic emirates, Iran, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Italy, Spain, France, Lithuania , Thailand, chili, and Mexico.

International exchange program: now and in the future

Kubissenova Saltanat IEC Kazakhstan 8th group International exchange program: now and in the future There are many programs available today, in the twenty-first century, that offer the chance to travel, study and work abroad. We witness people successfully returning home after having participated in an international program, providing positive feedback, and recommending others to participate. The key to a future that is sustainable, one where the generation is educated and has a wider worldview, is giving students these possibilities. My university provided me with the opportunity to study abroad as an exchange student in Lithuania last semester. At the age of 18 years old, I was a young girl who had never left her home country. Sincerely, it was quite challenging to be alone with strangers and away from home. However, over time, these random strangers turned into my closest friends. During my six-month study abroad, in Lithuania , Samantha and I lived in the same room. In a way, Samantha was my sister, or "sorella" in Italian. This second-year Italian master's student helped me adapt to the community at a foreign university and introduced me to other Erasmus students. It was wonderful for me to be acquainted with individuals from Turkey, Korea, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Indonesia, Morocco and India since they all had unique personalities and were a part of their different cultures. I made an attempt to manage my courses so that I could return to my former university with a satisfactory grade. At Kaunas University of Technology, where I spent the whole semester studying, we were taught how to learn more effectively. I found that studying in Europe is relatively simpler than in Kazakhstan, considering the practically identical educational system. For instance, we just took the midterm and final examinations at KTU, which felt more comfortable to me than the midterm, endterm, and final exams we take at my own university. Actually, I had four school courses in total, and they were all very different from one another. As a student of mathematical science speciality, I found learning about physics to be somewhat difficult. Despite this, I was able to pass each subject with honors, and I returned to my Suleyman Demirel university with pleasure. A trip to Copenhagen with my friend Elmira from Kazakhstan and two korean girls is among the memories I will not soon forget. We arrived at 7 a.m. without carefully checking our flight while the flight was scheduled to leave at 10 a.m. When we could not find our flight in the list of flights for the following two hours, we became really anxious. We asked the airport employees, after that we recognized our faults, and made the choice to wait for our flight. In the airport, we fell asleep while hugging our luggage. Nevertheless, we traveled about Copenhagen for two days, enjoying traditional delicacies and seeing the origin of the well-known Copenhagen Tigers store. I am delighted to get the opportunity and fulfill a childhood dream of mine by traveling to the city of love, Paris. Even at first glance, it is obvious that this country is a megalopolis with magnificent historical buildings that gives a completely European atmosphere, which I want to return to. Work and travel is one of the well-known programs that helps students find employment abroad and travel throughout the USA. Every year, this program sends a large number of students to America to pursue their dreams. Programs offer all assistance, including aid in locating employment, assistance with obtaining a visa, and contact information for 24-hour emergency services in the USA. With the help of this curriculum, students learn to push themselves beyond their comfort zones and work hard to earn money for fun and pleasure. I want to be in the USA after such an amazing experience with my university's exchange program. I was encouraged to give this program a try by my closest friend who took part in it. After considering all the information, I
