Neoclassical stone architecture defines the northern edge where the grounds meet the waterfront.

The Marble Palace represents an early phase of Neoclassical building along the waterfront. The structure stands directly between the open expanse of the Field of Mars and Palace Quay. Foot traffic here encounters austere stone walls designed to project permanence.
