About the place

Komaba Park preserves the former estate of the Maeda clan alongside quiet residential paths in Meguro.

The grounds originally held the Komaba Agricultural College during the Meiji period and later hosted the Tokyo Imperial University Faculty of Agriculture. When the faculty relocated to Hongo, the Maeda clan acquired the land to build a Western Tudor residence. Designed by architect Yasushi Tsukamoto, the main mansion utilized reinforced concrete to resist major earthquakes.
