There were no changes to the Travel Advisory Level. The “Crime” risk indicator was added. Advisory summary was updated to reflect changes to U.S. embassy operations. Do not travel to Iraq due to terrorism, kidnapping, armed conflict, crime, health risks, and the U.S. government’s limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in Iraq.

Shape of my heart, that remains forever

Despite all the difficulties, it all made me the happiest person who can proudly say I am a winner! Everything worked out and I found so much more in my life. I will always remember those days in Salisbury, the ocean surf in Ocean City, the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico at Playa Bagdad, and all the knowledge I gained will guide me further in life. I miss the hot and delicious barbacoa that turned me from a vegetarian into a meat-eater, the avocado tacos from the neighbor's garden... I knew I had to return and thought everything would be elementary and easy. But one day I realized I was feeling something so epic that I had never felt before that moment. I packed my bags and thanked the family that helped me so much, and Gek and I left for the border... Tears blinded my eyes. I just walked up to my closest person and said I love you. I dropped 25 cents into the machine and went through the turnstile... I looked at him and he was crying too, just like me. I was moving away, but we kept looking at each other... I shouted that it had to be this way, but I will return, you know that... just believe and don't give up! Never give up... The plane carried me further and further away, and I clutched what had become my treasure... the little plush mouse that was Hector's only toy. And he kept my rabbit and the large children's drawing on the wall of my room... I drew it so that when he woke up, he would see it and want to do something today that would bring us closer again... After all, we never give up!
