About the place

Puskás Aréna dominates Zugló as Hungary's national stadium, built strictly for major football matches and massive arena concerts.

The arena stands in the Zugló district as the home ground for the national football team, constructed directly over the footprint of the demolished former national stadium. Named after football captain Ferenc Puskás, the bowl was planned by architect György Skardelli to host international tournament fixtures and major concerts. The original concept included an elevated running track, but planners removed it to focus entirely on football.

Attending an event requires advance planning because the venue operates a strictly cashless catering system, accepting only bank cards or contactless mobile payment. On-site vehicle parking is minimal, making street driving impractical on match days. Spectators rely on the metro and tram lines serving the complex, while residents in Zugló face cordoned streets whenever European cup fixtures fill the bowl.
