À propos du lieu

The Forest of Remembrance stands as a dedicated memorial garden within Parque del Buen Retiro.

This memorial garden stands inside Parque del Buen Retiro to honor the civilian victims of the capital train bombings. Known originally as the Forest of the Departed, the installation provides a dedicated physical space for quiet reflection within the city core. The site anchors public memory directly into one of the most frequented leisure spaces in the municipality, creating a permanent place of civic tribute.

The memorial grounds also honor the special forces agent who died during the subsequent apartment block siege when bombers detonated explosives. For people relocating to nearby neighborhoods, the garden forms a solemn contrast with the surrounding park recreation. Walking these perimeter lanes reveals how quiet contemplation and routine municipal life share the same public grounds every day of the week.
