À propos du lieu

Deep underground arches of red and yellow marble turn this central interchange into an open gallery of Soviet bronze.

Designed by architect Alexey Dushkin, the station sits on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line beneath Revolution Square in Tverskoy District. Broad arches of red and yellow marble rest upon low pylons faced with dark Armenian stone, framed by patterned ceiling tracery and ornate ventilation grilles. The platforms originally connected westward toward Aleksandrovsky Sad before engineers rerouted the tracks through a newer tunnel segment.

Sculptor Matvey Manizer created the socialist realism bronze figures that line every passageway, depicting Soviet aviators, farmers, soldiers, miners, and schoolchildren. Commuters treat the station as an active superstition hub rather than a museum, constantly polishing the bronze patrol dog snout, the soldier pistol, the rooster, and the student shoe for good fortune as they march toward the escalators.
