À propos du lieu

Lami functions as a coastal satellite where everyday life revolves around the water and the road corridor into the capital.

Settled along the Lami Bay waterfront on Viti Levu, the town functions as an immediate coastal suburb of the capital. Foreign residents relocate here for modern amenities and a distinct community atmosphere outside the commercial centre. Daily transit relies entirely on roads, as the island has no railway network. Commuters depend on subsidized local stage buses and taxis to travel back and forth.

Living expenses mirror capital rates for groceries and dining due to the shared metropolitan market. Shared proximity also brings urban security concerns, requiring standard vigilance and avoiding solitary walks after dark. The climate offers a comfortable dry period during the middle months of the year, suitable for waterfront walking. Overseas arrivals reach town by taxi transfer from Nausori or by cross-island coach from Nadi.

Associations
  • Lami BayWaterfront area where residents take coastal strolls away from the capital.
  • Suva commuteDaily travel to the capital depends on stage buses and taxis along the road.
  • Nighttime street safetyUrban crime risks require avoiding solitary walks through the town after dark.
  • Expat rental housingLower rental rates than central Suva draw foreign residents seeking apartments.
Faits
  • Public transport across the island relies on a staged fare system subsidized by the national government.
  • Travelers arriving through Nausori Airport reach the town by private road transfer or taxi shuttle.
  • The island lacks a passenger rail network, leaving buses and taxis as the primary transit options.
  • Expat renters frequently settle in the area to secure modern housing outside the commercial centre.

LVegas

What about Las Vegas and Los Angeles? They are completely different, distinct, and in no way inferior to each other—they are mysteries. One could describe the feelings experienced during our trip endlessly! We stayed in some of the best hotels in Vegas and enjoyed everything that was happening. Since I was 20 at the time of my incredible trip, I'll say right away: if you are under 21, you can check into hotels thanks to friends, but they won't help you beyond that. Clubs and even pools are closed to you. One day we were staying at the Flamingo hotel and rushed to get a tan by the beautiful pool, but we were refused, being told that the pool is for 21+ only. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't visit it before you're 21. Vegas is a city of entertainment. On the ground floor of every hotel, there is a casino; along the entire main street, the Strip, there are speakers playing the same music for the whole street; and at every step, there are special misters installed, and they even work at night because Vegas is a very hot city! All around are lights and hundreds of people with bizarre long cocktail glasses, dressed up and ready for fun, a multitude of bars and clubs bursting with debauchery; everywhere you can meet all sorts of strange people who are just itching to offer entertainment in this dirty, yet so beautiful city.
