The next stop was a trip to the American capital – Washington, D.C. This city struck me, first and foremost, with its architecture. In my memory, the American capital will remain a city-museum. At every turn, there are majestic buildings with columns, all kinds of architectural museums, the National Gallery of Art and Sciences, the Newseum, the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of the American Indian and American History, the National Museum of African Art, the Postal Museum, and many others. If you compare Washington and New York, in my opinion, they are two completely different cities, not at all like each other. Washington has a more aristocratic, measured beauty. Streets cleaned to a shine, parks with perfectly manicured lawns – it's a perfectionist's paradise. We managed to see a lot, but the Capitol – the main strategic target for alien invasions in every movie – was, unfortunately, under renovation, so we couldn't fully enjoy the grace of its famous dome. However, we were lucky enough to visit the memorial park, walk through almost all the museums, and just soak up the atmosphere of American capital life. Next was a spontaneous and grand trip to an American football game at Metlife Stadium near New York, to see the New York Jets vs. Philadelphia Eagles match. I had dreamed of attending an American football game for a very long time, and finally, I managed to make my dream come true. The emotions were so overwhelming that I was jumping for joy like crazy, happy about everything happening. It was truly just like in the movies!

From the very beginning, this city was just a stopover between Washington and Boston. Honestly, I didn't want to come here (and I still think I should have stayed in Washington for one more day to see all the museums), but I had already missed the morning bus, and no one had canceled the Philadelphia-Boston ticket, so I had to go by car with David. Tip: If you are traveling by car, be careful! Missing the right turn on the highway means losing about an hour of time to turn back and try again. Studying the map and swearing with every word we knew, we tried to bypass the Tolls (these are points on the roads where you have to pay to continue). We arrived in the city at 5:30 PM (of course, all the museums closed at 5). There are exactly 2 things to see in Philadelphia: the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Well, okay, the LOVE statue too. We saw the bell, but the Hall only from the outside; there was some construction work inside, and they weren't letting anyone in. Since we ended up in this city, I thought, we have to try a Philly cheesesteak. How much time do you think it takes for 2 more or less adult people to find a Philly cheesesteak in Philadelphia? The correct answer is 1 hour and 20 minutes) Just as we finished eating, a downpour started, and we decided to head back to the car. And suddenly, without any warning, 1,700 completely naked people on bicycles decided to ride through the main streets of the city! Such is life. It made no sense to look for accommodation for one night, so we slept in a beautiful parking lot. A very unusual experience) Philadelphia is the city where the famous movie "Rocky Balboa" was filmed. David used to box, it's his favorite movie, so we went to those very steps that Rocky climbed, from which there is a stunning view of the city. After eating some junk food, we reached the bus station and said goodbye. I didn't expect this from the city, but it was fun) Boston was ahead.

On days when I only had half a day off, my friends and I usually went to the beach or attended events for tourists like the Air Show, Miss America, etc. But things could have been much more interesting if I had turned 21, as I could have visited all the city's most famous casinos, but at that time I was only 20. Since I was working two jobs, it was very hard to coordinate a travel schedule, so as soon as we had overlapping days off, my friends and I would try to leave somewhere immediately—either to nearby Ocean City, New York, or Philadelphia. The latter will forever remain in my heart; there are so many museums in that city where you can walk endlessly, admiring the canvases of famous artists—the Art Museum alone is worth it! Despite the skyscrapers and the endless flow of traffic, the atmosphere in the city is calm; people on the streets play giant chess and checkers, moving the pieces with their whole bodies. There are also many universities and historical monuments in the city. By mid-August, I started slacking off and quit my second job to travel and sunbathe more. It so happened that a friend of mine had acquaintances living and working in Connecticut, and she suggested I go there for a couple of days. Of course, I agreed, especially since I always enjoyed planning routes. We decided to go through New York by train, so we had to get to Grand Central. Fortunately, it's located a few blocks from the bus station, and we found it quickly (IF YOU ARE AT GRAND CENTRAL, BE SURE TO LOOK AT THE CEILING; IT DEPICTS A STARRY SKY WITH ZODIAC SIGNS). Upon reaching the town of Clinton, I was a bit disappointed; it seemed very boring to me, and the water was colder because the state was further north. After returning and working for about another week, we planned a trip with friends to NIAGARA FALLS. The tour was organized by a Russian guy in a minivan. It took us about 8 hours to get there, but we couldn't really sleep the whole time because it was very cramped. And so we arrived, paid for admission—it's worth noting that the admission fee also includes free access to the museum, the aquarium, and most importantly, YOU CAN RIDE THE FERRY!!!! As soon as we saw that beautiful view of Canada and Niagara Falls, all our fatigue drowned in the Mariana Trench!!! My vocabulary isn't enough to describe all the feelings of delight we experienced there! True, there were some funny moments; for example, there are a lot of Canadian flags in that place, and at some point, there are so many that my friend declares: "We crossed the border into Canada, we're going to get arrested now and have huge problems." I try to calm her down in every way: "Canada is in the other direction, you can't just take and cross the border like that," but she doesn't calm down. As luck would have it, we got a little lost, and there was no one around. Finally, having miraculously gotten out of there, to calm my friend down, I ask a police officer: "Where is the border with Canada?" to which he replies: "It's on the bridge, and you still have to go through passport control before that." At that moment, I turn to my friend and ask with a touch of sarcasm: "Well? Did you visit Canada? Now you won't even have anything to brag about!" My work permit was expiring, and there were 1.5 weeks left until my flight, so I decided to visit my parents' friends and spend the remaining time with them. They lived near Washington, so we agreed to meet in Washington and walk around the local attractions on the National Mall and, of course, see the White House! Of course, it's impossible to walk around everything in one day; we didn't go into the museums (for the record, they are very interesting, and most of them are free), and it just so happened that vandals had spray-painted the Lincoln Memorial the day before, so in all the photos, there are workers cleaning it... This is probably the most memorable trip ever^-^ My friend and I were left alone in the house since the rest of the guys had already left. We had been planning to check out Philadelphia for a long time, especially since it's only a 3-hour drive from Wildwood. And since work was already done, we could safely hit the road. So, we arrived at the Wildwood Bus Terminal at 8, but were told the bus wouldn't arrive until 9. After waiting an hour, we were finally heading towards Philly. As I said, it was a 3-hour ride, watching the small American towns you see in movies pass by. I always travel with headphones. For me, it's an unreal vibe to admire new places while listening to my favorite songs. And that's where the fun begins. We stopped at some Bus Terminal, most passengers got off, and we did too, of course, without thinking to ask. After wandering around the station, we went to look for the city center. On the way, we met a student and asked where the famous Philadelphia Museum of Art was, and she pointed us in the right direction. We kept walking, but the only thing that looked like a museum was the library building. To be honest, based on what the guys told me, I imagined Philadelphia completely differently: high-rise buildings, crowds of people. Here, it was the opposite. Not a hint of any movement. And that's when we started doubting if we had arrived at the right place. Okay, we kept walking... we saw a bridge and a RIVER???!!!! (later it turned out to be the Delaware River). And on the other bank were those huge buildings))) What? Where are we?? We couldn't swim across it, so we headed back. On the way, we met a woman who kindly agreed to explain to us what was going on. Us: "Good afternoon!! Could you please tell us where the city center is?" Woman: "This is the city center." Us: "And what is that over there, behind the bridge?" Woman: "That? Philadelphia!" You can imagine the look on my face) haha)) Us: "And where are we now?" Woman: "This is Camden." Oh yeah... we didn't make it to Philly and ended up in Camden) The lady explained how to get to Philadelphia, and we wandered back to the bus station. On the way, we were laughing wildly at the fact that we couldn't go without an adventure once again)) At the stop, to catch the right bus, we started talking to another nice woman who was also going to Philly. The bus costs $1.50, and here we are, crossing the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. The woman got off at some stop, and we thought we would get off a little later. Sitting on the bus, we were still laughing that this was our bus tour of Philly. And what do you think??? The bus made a loop and was heading back to Camden again)) Oh my God, we were returning to the same bus station. As soon as we saw the Bus Terminal, we jumped off that bus, ran across the road, and got on the bus to Philly again. I think we definitely cheered up the people who were watching this))) This time, we got off somewhere in Philadelphia. Phew... hooray!) I really liked the city, and it's a pity that with all this running around and traveling, we didn't have time to really explore it( Luckily, we managed to visit the Independence Visitor Center and the Liberty Bell Pavilion. It was in Philadelphia that the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Constitution was adopted. And the cracked Liberty Bell is one of the most famous symbols of the USA. We even took a picture with Benjamin Franklin! (well... more precisely, with a person who was dressed up as the former president). We were very hungry and tried to find a place to grab a bite. On the way, we met a man named Robert. He was also dressed in the costume of a famous historical character. Robert said that if we were in Philadelphia, we just had to try a Cheesesteak and even suggested where we could do it. And he was right, the cheesesteak was just "finger-licking good"))) We couldn't leave Philadelphia without souvenirs. Ending up in Chinatown, we found a small shop where we bought magnets, postcar

Hey! Hello, China! Hello, Chinese buses! Glad to see you, Chinese guides! And in this case, it's not bad, as you might have thought. Every bus had built-in air conditioning, and the guides spoke both Chinese and English (Chinese is such a funny language, you have to hear it, it's hard to describe in words). And all this for a ridiculous price. But let's start from the very beginning, or rather, from my return to the "city that never sleeps." I bought 3 tickets online for a 3-day tour: "New York, 1000 Islands, Niagara Falls, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York." They were running a promotion at the time: buy 2 tickets and get the 3rd one free (only on the condition that the 3rd tour participant stays in the same hotel room as the other 2). Again, with the help of the World Wide Web, I found 2 people willing to join me on this mini-trip. Their names were Kristina and Tyoma. At 7 a.m., the buses pulled up to Chinatown, we threw our bags into the luggage compartment, and set off toward the unknown.

My trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where I spent over 10 days, turned out to be unforgettable. Some say that the history of the USA begins right in Philadelphia. The city center is proof of that. Beautiful architecture, the central library, the home of the well-known Benjamin Franklin, a business district with skyscrapers—you'll find all this in the huge yet cozy Philly. And of course, I couldn't go without hockey. Seeing an NHL game with my own eyes was a long-held dream of mine! An amazing match where the Philadelphia Flyers won in overtime against the New York Rangers with a score of 5-4! It was there that I learned that any sporting event for Americans is a kind of small celebration. It's funny that at the game they were drinking beer and eating their favorite burgers. You wouldn't see that back home. Just as you wouldn't see people lying calmly right on the asphalt, lawn, or bench, with Americans just walking by as if nothing were happening. Another bus, Sunday, night. We board the bus, get some pretty good seats, but we couldn't fall asleep. The bus was a freezing icebox. Even the Americans were complaining. The driver said he couldn't do anything about it. On top of that, he started being rude to the passengers... As a result, we spent the short trip freezing and listening to the driver yelling. My head was just splitting. To brighten up the trip, we just stared at our phones)) Finally, we arrived in Philadelphia. Tired and exhausted. They dropped us off clearly somewhere on the outskirts))) We walked to the station. It was about 3 AM. We went to get coffee at DD, then Natasha and Masha laid down to sleep on the benches, and Aika and I guarded their sleep)) By the way, there was some insect floating in Natasha's coffee(( It was just really gross( At 6-7 AM we went to wash up, put on makeup... In general, everything according to the old routine)) There wasn't really anywhere to go yet, since we arrived too early. We went for a walk. Went into a park. Enjoyed the silence, sang our hearts out, and got in the mood for our 2nd day of travel. After that, we headed to Franklin Square. There we sat down to rest, even managed to sleep a little on the grass :D Then we realized it was time to eat) After a snack, we headed to Chinatown. We decided to see this district everywhere_) They don't differ much)) Then more walks, walks around beautiful Philadelphia. We reached Love Park. A very lively place. Lots of people, flash mobs. A popular place for wedding photoshoots)) In this place, we recorded messages to our future selves... I still rewatch it and have a smile on my face....) Soaked in the city's energy, we headed to the historical sites) First, we visited Independence Hall, since the US Constitution was signed here) Then we confidently headed to the Liberty Bell. When we arrived, we saw a huge line. We decided to lie on the grass nearby. Then we saw on some girl's FB what this bell looks like inside and decided not to go, since there was nothing special inside.)) We also traveled by subway in Philadelphia. But we only rode it twice. The rest of the time we walked and didn't regret it. The subway in Philadelphia is cleaner than in New York, but there is nothing particularly attractive about it. And so, tired and exhausted, we went to eat and headed towards where our bus was departing. We fell asleep quickly and slept all the way to Boston))

It was already August. Two whole months had passed. That was when I decided with the girls that it was time for us to take a break) We took 3 days off in a row and started thinking about how and where we would go. Initially, we wanted to go to Washington-Springfield-Boston. But then we decided to swap Springfield for Philadelphia. One evening, sitting at Dunkin' Donuts and sipping coffee, we started making plans for our trip. After weighing all the pros and cons, we came up with a plan. The closest big city to us was Boston. Tickets from Boston to Washington were cheap. Tickets from Hyannis, which is 15 minutes away from us, were more expensive. The thing is, there is a website where tickets are really very cheap. But you can only book from a major city to a major city. Here is the site: https://us.megabus.com/ So we decided that on Sunday we would work until 5, take a taxi, and head to Boston at 6 PM. We were supposed to be there around 8 PM. In Boston, we planned to transfer around 10 PM and travel until morning to Washington, then around 11 PM, get on and go from there to Philadelphia. It's not far from Washington to Philadelphia, so according to our plan, we should have been there around 3 AM. Then at 10 PM, we were supposed to get on a bus and go to Boston. We were supposed to arrive in Boston in the morning and stay there until the evening. In the evening, take the last bus and get home. Thus, we got the following picture: 1) On Saturday evening, we get on the bus and arrive in Boston around 8:00 PM (before getting on the bus, we had to get to the city where it departs. We lived in West Yarmouth, and the bus was from Hyannis. That's 15 minutes from us) 2) At 10 PM, we get on the bus and go to Washington, arriving there around 7 AM on Sunday 3) The whole day in Washington, and at 11 PM we leave for Philadelphia, where we arrive around 3 AM, or even earlier, on Monday 4) The whole day in Philadelphia, and at 10 PM we get on the bus to Boston, where we arrive at 8 AM (around that time) on Tuesday 5) The whole day in Boston, we get on the bus around 9:00 PM and arrive home around 1 AM (Tuesday night to Wednesday). Route: West Yarmouth - Hyannis - Boston - Washington - Philadelphia - Boston - Hyannis - West Yarmouth Having decided on the route, we decided to book the tickets. Most of the tickets were bought on the site I mentioned earlier.) The tickets cost us a total of about $180. As you noticed, there were no hotel stops in our plan) That was the first thing we saved money on. We slept on the buses and that was enough for us))) You will learn more about how it was as I continue my story about the trip) After we chose the cities, we started studying what to see in them.) We wrote down the places in the order we wanted to see them. We made the list as optimally as possible (i.e., if two attractions are close by, see them together, rather than going to the other end of the city to see something else and then coming back). We wrote down the name of the place, the street it's on, the subway station, and the approximate time we planned to be there. I advise you to do the same. It will save you time. Write down every little detail. It's clear that there will be some mishaps, but by planning, you will reduce their number) And so, having written down everything to the smallest detail, we started getting ready for our trip)) We packed all the essentials) We took a change of clothes that we planned to walk around in, dry shampoo, cosmetics, money, passport, tickets, and personal hygiene items. And we dressed warmly for the road because, as I said earlier, it's cold on the buses( The day finally came. It was August 8th, Saturday. We went to work and waited with excitement for 5 PM, when we could run to get our things and head out on our trip:)
