Participation in the program is available to every student who has reached 18 years of age. This program is a great opportunity for me; thanks to this progress, I can fulfill my dream. I have always dreamed of becoming a professional boxer. America is the homeland of professional boxers. There are strong boxers, and professional boxing athletes can be found in the USA. I am learning new things and improving my English by participating in this process, which has a huge impact on my future career. Because I can learn a new type of profession there. For me, it is a victory if I start my own business in Kazakhstan. Thanks to this program, I am achieving great success. First, I am studying and improving my English. I will go to the USA, which is a great opportunity for me coming from a village. I worked hard, and then I became. Or I can learn one type of profession and open my own. I think that a new environment and a new culture change me into a new person. If I were the head of the student exchange center, I would offer many discounts to students in the program and organize various games. The cities I want to visit in the USA are New York and Los Angeles. When I was a 3rd-year student, I tried to apply for the program, but I couldn't pass because my English was poor and I was insecure. Just like last year. Naturally, I had to add a bonus for those who made it to the end. How could I not? This year is completely different. If last year I was discussing cinema, this time it's about culinary arts. Or rather, I want to prove to you that fast-food restaurants can also have gourmet cuisine :) Or at least something unusual. For example, the Breakfast Burrito, which was one of our restaurant's main highlights. Stewed onions, green and red peppers, bacon, and cheddar. All this in a Mexican tortilla. Another miracle was the traditional Italian omelet, Frittata, consisting of spinach, cherry tomatoes, and feta cheese. Later, we started making food for ourselves out of whatever was available, but not on the menu. For example, here is a burrito analog - a Quesadilla. You can put anything in it. But our main ingredients were cheese and chicken. Also, there was incredible trout with a special butter prepared in advance with lemon zest and juice, parsley, as well as onion and garlic powders. During cooking, this butter was melted over the fish right before serving. Unfortunately, the photos show unfinished dishes. There should have been potatoes and lemons too. This is the breakfast we made for ourselves and other workers - a Breakfast Sandwich, which could also contain anything, but the main component, of course, was an egg. It had to be soft-cooked so that the yolk would definitely run when bitten. This is a major American thing. Breakfast is a very important thing here, so an egg can be fried, boiled, etc., in more than 10 ways. Once we prepared a special dish of the day: Steak wrapped in bacon. Everything was served as usual with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The vegetables this time were fried zucchini with red pepper. People here love that. After a while, we were brought a different kind of steak that was just begging to be put on French baguettes. So, we ended up with sandwiches like these, with fried onions and blue cheese. Then we returned to Mexican cuisine again, making a Taco Salad. Consisting of steak, vegetables, greens, and a deep-fried tortilla. When a fire happened at our hotel, we were brought a ton of salmon, so for about two weeks, we were racking our brains to come up with different dishes from it. Well, of course, trying to alternate with others. Sometimes it was salads, sometimes sandwiches, or just these fried main courses. Actually, it was really delicious. Again, from the same hotel, we were brought some mozzarella, and for ourselves, we prepared Bruschetta appetizers with basil, tomatoes, and mozzarella. All this on a toasted baguette. To be honest, I didn't participate in this recipe, so I remember it vaguely. I only know that it seems to be chicken in a spicy sauce with basil and tomatoes. And, of course, how can you do without real Italian pasta when you have an Italian chef working with you? And one time we even baked pork ribs in the oven. True, this was again for ourselves. Another experiment was non-traditional sushi. Yes, sacrilege to some extent, but also interesting. Also filled with rice, but wrapped in a tortilla, and the meat was steak in one version, and if I remember correctly, chicken in the other. And besides that, there were various types of vegetables and greens inside. It turned out pretty good. Of course, these are not all the delights of our kitchen. There were many more delicacies and interesting preparations that I forgot to photograph or just couldn't find right now. But many people think that working as a cook under the program means just being a handout receiver. Well, no. It is serious work and excellent experience. Over 2 seasons, I learned from scratch to be a decent cook, albeit a beginner. Thanks to all the chefs I had to work with during these seasons. They really gave me unique knowledge.

After receiving my last paycheck, packing my bags, and saying a difficult goodbye to everyone I was close to, I left. It is very, very hard to leave a place where you are happy and loved. Tip: Buy tickets in advance! Tickets are cheaper on Wednesdays than on other days. The first city I decided to visit according to my plan was Orlando for one simple reason: the Harry Potter park! Arriving at the Greyhound bus terminal and checking my hotel location on Google Maps again (because I booked in advance, the room cost me $28 per night), I headed into the city. Tip: Greyhound bus terminals have outlets, Wi-Fi, restrooms, water fountains, luggage storage, and benches. They are open 24/7, so if you have nowhere to go before your next trip or nowhere to go at all, you know where you can stay. In general, a traveler always has a choice: take a taxi, saving time but spending money; or spend time searching for and waiting for buses, but getting there for $1.25-2.50. No matter how attractive the taxi option looks, I recommend using buses, as you will see a lot of unusual and amazing things. After reaching the hotel and washing up, I went to look for a supermarket. A nasty surprise awaited me here: it turns out there are no Walmarts in big cities. Some say it kills other grocery chains, others say Walmart takes up too much space; in short, I was left without my favorite snacks and ate at Wendy's. Fortunately, I had a supply of bananas and apples in my bag from South Carolina. Disney or Universal Studios? For me, the answer was obvious! Arguments? Disneyland costs $200+, while a ticket to both Universal parks is $145. In Disneyland, the rides are for kids and not scary; at Universal, you will scream like crazy. It took a long time to get to Disneyland, while Universal was right nearby, a 20-30 minute walk. And yes, Disneyland didn't have the 2 Harry Potter parks (Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade), a Marvel theme park, and huge, cool roller coasters. Tip: The vast majority of hotels in Orlando provide shuttle buses to Universal Studios, Disneyland, and the Orlando Aquatic Center completely free of charge. This usually happens at 9, 10, and 11 a.m. If you could store happiness in jars, I would have made a huge supply that day. King's Cross Station, Diagon Alley, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, Quidditch supplies, Ollivanders wands, scarves, sweaters and ties of all houses, a huge chocolate frog and a pack of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, the dragon on the roof of Gringotts Bank breathing fire every 15 minutes, the Hogwarts Express (which I rode 3 or 4 times), Hogsmeade, butterbeer, a mediocre lunch at the Three Broomsticks, the Hog's Head pub, owl post, incredible rides simulating dragons, amazing and realistic sets inside Hogwarts, endless souvenirs, atmospheric surroundings and decorations, and Hogwarts itself, after all! If you understand what I mean, you can easily imagine my state of mind at that time. You can ride any attraction as many times as you want; all that is required is to wait in line. I was lucky; there was a little rain that day, so there weren't many people, and I was able to ride, take pictures, and walk around the park to my heart's content. I wish the same to everyone who comes to this magical city! In the park, I accidentally met 4 people from Kazan who also came here 7 years ago through the Work and Travel program! And in the evening at the hotel, I met two girls from Novgorod, whom I would later meet in Washington! After chatting and making friends with the receptionist, I found out that his brother lives in Miami. I immediately told him about my future plans and my desire to go to that city and asked if I could stay with his brother. Everyone once thought about how to get to another country or travel around the world. As a child, it was a dream and a fantasy that we could only see on TV. Something unreal. However, now we have matured and we know that we have every chance to make the dream a reality. My name is Nuriddin and this is the story of how I got into the "Work and travel 2023" program. Far back in 2018, I heard from friends how they visited America on a student program, I was a schoolboy who thought only about where to enroll and for what profession. America did not concern me at that moment and was not interested. After a while, many people started talking about travel and programs for traveling abroad. Back in 2020, I just started to be interested in America and England, as I was studying English hard. At that moment, I realized that in order to understand the whole essence of the language, I had to visit and stay in the homeland of this language. And in the 11th grade, I actively studied all the programs for admission abroad. But it was already too late, unfortunately I could not enroll in Universities in America. Having entered the University of Kazakhstan, I did not give up and was looking for ways to improve my search and get to America. And at the end of 2021, my friend said that he was going to America under the “Work and travel” program for 3 months. After hearing this, I started looking for sites, information about this program. As a result, I found many agencies that offered to get to America. And one day on the social network “Instagram” I found the agency page @international_exchange_center. And then there was a set for “work and travel 2022". And with ambitious goals, I started studying this program, as a result, I realized that I would not be able to apply for 2022. For financial reasons, as well as lack of self-confidence. But what’s going to stop me? Absolutely nothing. Having studied this program well, I decided to prepare for “work and travel 2023”. Because I realized that this is my last chance. And also not a little important choice in my 20 years, I think. Since I am studying for the 3rd year. Soon I got a job, started saving money and actively studying English and the history of students who have already visited the USA. Thank God, now I am a participant in this program. So what do I think about this program? I am sure that this is one of the best chances to see the world and open up to it. Since before, many could not afford to visit another country, namely the United States at the age of 18. Every day I get an impression and a good opinion about this program. After all, it gives you so much experience, acquaintances, an interesting summer in America and a good lesson that you can't give up, you have to take risks and be responsible. In the future, this program will be very popular, although it still has a good reputation among young people. And now there are many agencies that help to get into this program. One of them and the best is @international_exchange_center (IEC). Since one of the reliable and have good experience and feedback from the participants. As well as good and high-quality cordinators and affordable prices. By the way, they have many different programs to travel around the world, and this makes them one of the best. Orynbay Aruzhan,3 Group Exchange programs create opportunities for participants to learn about a new country and its nation, develop interpersonal skills, and work with people from different cultural backgrounds. It is common to say that exchange programs create future leaders who appreciate international collaboration, tolerance and empathy. Above all that, I see this W&T program as a way to challenge myself and see what I am capable of. Living and working in another country with strangers is like forcing myself into the most uncomfortable situations and adventures possible. But I choose to do it myself because we can only grow when we are out of our comfort zone. I also do not think that the grass is always greener on the other side, I won’t be in the US screaming about how everything is great there and bad at home. I believe that there are pros and cons to each side and the best we can do as countries are to share our experiences and grow together as nations. What I plan to learn from this trip is hard work, I plan to mature, get more physically developed, and become more outgoing. I want to hear funny or not-so-funny life stories from my coworkers, my boss, and strangers I will meet along the way. Why do I want to experience hard work? I think most of my life I was pretty privileged. I studied in a nice private school, I got to do different sports and hobbies. My friends always had what they wanted, they never had to work for it. So when I got my first job two years ago, it turned my life upside down. I was looking for a job because I was bored in summer, and my coworkers- kids my age would work 12-hour shifts because they needed that money. I learned how to appreciate what was given to me, I learned to appreciate people’s work and my life as it is. When I told my friend from university I am going to participate in W&T. He said “Are you kidding me? You are spending all your time studying computer science just to go the US and wash dishes there?!”. I realized how privileged and arrogant some people can be and how I would never want to have that kind of perception of life and arrogancy towards people who do hand work like washing dishes. So for me, the W&T program is not just a way to spend a crazy summer far away from my parents. It is a way to teach myself a lesson one more time, learn discipline, learn the work ethic of another nation, and give myself the motivation to keep studying and be grateful for everything that I have. In the near future, I would like to finish my Bachelor's degree and get my Master's and Doctorate degrees while practising and working as a software engineer. But most importantly I would like to be a researcher and teach at my university(KBTU) as my role model Pakizar Shamoi. Pakizar teaches my Object Oriented Programming course right now at KBTU and is the greatest Professor I ever came across during these 2 years of college. Pakizar got her PhD in Japan and I feel like it is an important part of her journey that I want to experience too. I think a lot of her work ethic and dedication comes from people she met in Japan and the obstacles she had to overcome to get there. That is why I want to experience other nations’ cultures, work systems, their educational system like my role model did. I want to learn networking and I feel like spending a summer in the US would help to develop the soft and hard skills that I need to achieve my ambitious goals. It would give me more experience of living abroad that I will need if I will get my Master's or PhD abroad. Hopefully in future when I will teach at KBTU I will be able to tell my students stories about me travelling across the US and other countries like Pakizar does in her lectures. Talking about the culture of my country, I want to talk about our youth. About how many talents from Kazakhstan are now in comedy, music, cinema and technology? Yes, it's the year '39, and we are still just as dependent on the box. Ha. Some things will remain unchanged forever. News. This hasn't been new for a long time. At least, not for me. The guys from IEC wrote about this in their app three days ago. No problems with visas and passports – even if now it's just a chip in your finger. Fewer problems – more time to practice the language. I can't imagine how people learned foreign languages before – all those tips like "listen to songs and watch movies in the original" seem so dubious. Now everything is much simpler and far more interesting, thanks to learn-rooms. A room where you are one-on-one with a hologram of Freddie Mercury, and you can ask him any question. Or the Queen of England, or Angelina Jolie – anyone at all. You have to admit, it's quite motivating! True, they are hard to find; not many people want to bother with setting up such rooms.
