About the place

Sergei Parajanov Museum preserves the collages, assemblages, and personal effects of the Soviet Armenian filmmaker inside the Dzoragyugh quarter.

Parajanov chose the building site and approved the architectural plans in the Dzoragyugh ethnographic center when relocating to the city. A major regional earthquake and subsequent socio-economic turmoil disrupted construction, delaying the public launch until after the artist died. Founding director Zaven Sargsyan established the space to safeguard Parajanov's extensive artistic and literary estate.
