Loop residents treat Grant Park as an expansive front lawn, trading biting lakefront wind and summer festival crowds for open paths along Columbus Drive.
关于此地
Buckingham Fountain anchors Grant Park as a public landmark along the downtown lakefront.
The Clarence Buckingham Memorial Fountain sits in Grant Park between Queens Landing and Ida B. Wells Drive. Built in a rococo wedding cake design modeled on the Latona Fountain at Versailles, the monument allegorically represents Lake Michigan. Sculpted sea horses represent the bordering states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana. Philanthropist Kate Buckingham funded the installation in memory of her brother.

Water displays and illuminated evening shows run through the warmer seasons before the basin drains for winter light installations. Long-term residents use the plaza as an open gathering point, taking advantage of free public wireless internet provided across the grounds. Television title sequences popularized the landmark nationwide, while navigation around the adjacent park drives requires planning during major civic events.
