Wat Ton Kwen: 周边有什么、如何前往、何时最合适 · 2026年
Residents settling around Hang Dong trade dense urban conveniences for wooden temple grounds and seasonal road floods.
Wat Ton Kwen preserves traditional Lanna architecture on quiet monastic grounds south of the urban center.
The monastery, also called Wat Inthrawat, takes its name from the local Ton Ba Kwen tree and the master builder Kruba In. King Kawilorot Suriyawong oversaw its construction in Nong Khwai subdistrict. The compound centers on an open wooden viharn containing a stucco Buddha in the Maravijaya posture alongside metal votive tablets. A unique sala chatummukh pavilion provides a cross-plan portico layout unmatched elsewhere in the north.

The grounds hosted overnight stops during the Hae Phra Chao Khao Wiang procession, letting residents bathe the holy relic before transfers to Wat Suan Dok and Doi Suthep. The Association of Siamese Architects formally designated the complex an outstanding conservation building. Low terrain in Hang Dong exposes nearby roads to seasonal storm runoff, though waters recede without harming the raised timber viharn.
