After a month, it was time for my first travels. My most desired city was NYC. That was exactly where I dreamed of celebrating my birthday. Round-trip bus tickets from Peter Pan cost $140. New York made an incredible impression on me. It is a city that charms you from the very first minutes. It mesmerizes with the scale of its buildings and structures, amazes with its frantic rhythm, the incredible flow of people, and the contrast expressed in the combination of luxury life with marginalized people sleeping on the streets and piles of trash. New York is a real concrete jungle. Central Park is probably one of the few places with greenery and trees. Overall, I was delighted with the city. Must-visit places in NYC (with addresses): *TIP FOR FUTURE PARTICIPANTS: to make it easier to navigate in unfamiliar places, download offline maps) Excursion “Panoramic view from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building” - $41 (20 W 34th St, New York) One-hour ferry tour to the Statue of Liberty - $30. One of the most affordable. Includes arrival at the destination, a minute stop, and return to the pier. National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Всем привет! Скажу сразу, что все подтолкнувшее меня на поездку- это продукция полусонного мозга. Потому что лучшие идеи стучат оглоблей по моему уставшему черепу именно посреди ночи. Так и в этот раз, я с воплем «Натааааш, а если…» начала излагать свои думы спящей подруге, часа этак, в 2 ночи. Эти бесноватые тараканы в голове не дают мне сидеть на месте! Я довольно долго не могла определиться нужно ли мне это. Даже приходила в офис ЦМО чтобы выйти из программы! Уговорили остаться, помогли. Спасибо, Марина и Ксюша!!! Все произошедшие события, которые подводили меня к поездке в Америку, всего лишь череда случайностей. Но, как многие из нас знают, случайности не случайны… Ездила я одна, и ничуть не жалею! Не бойтесь ехать одни, это очень интересно! Правда! Это прекрасная возможность познакомиться и подружиться с новыми людьми, это реально круто! И я наслышана историями, как люди по году не общались со своими лучшими друзьями, после совместных поездок в штаты. Так что, ни в коем случае не бойтесь отправляться в одиночку! Это Америка, вы точно не останетесь одни! Итак, начну с вылета… Часть 1. Москва- Нью-Йорк. Как человек разумный, я предварительно спланировала весь свой путь следования от лифта в подъезде, до входа в хостел в Нью-Йорке. А вот как человек- растыка, я не перепроверила расписание аэроэкспресса, и выехала в аэропорт прилично позже, чем рассчитывала. В итоге, ужасно опаздывала на рейс, и когда началась посадка, я еще стояла в огромной очереди на паспортном контроле, а потом буквально бежала к самолету поднимая пыль! Поэтому приезжайте раньше, лучше посидите в аэропорту или пробегитесь по магазинчикам, или еще что-нибудь! Главное- раньше, минимум за 2,5 часа! У меня все обошлось, успела заскочить в самолет, и таки взмыла в воздух серебристой стрелой, с остальными тремястами пассажирами. Спустя 8 часов мы начали снижаться… О, этот вид! Усеянный небоскребами Манхеттен и поблескивающий где-то внизу Гудзон! «В зобу дыханье сперло»- это единственная, тождественная моим ощущениям от увиденного, фраза! В аэропорту сориентироваться было довольно просто, такси решила не брать, а воспользоваться метро. Схема вполне понятна, ничего сверхъестественного. Америка встретила хорошей, очень теплой и солнечной погодой, такой, что в процессе брождений я умудрилась обгореть. В Нью-Йорке забронировала место в замечательном хостеле на Лонг Айленде, в котором был свободный выход на крышу (внимание) с видом на Манхеттен!!! Забросила свои вещички в комнату, и ринулась в самую гущу небоскребов. Нью-Йорк конечно же прекрасен, но невозможно не заметить вездесущие неприятные запахи, грязь, бездомных (одна мне, кстати, чуть не наваляла при попытке ее сфотографировать) и мусор на тротуарах. Ах да, и крысы, снующие под ногами- тоже омрачают впечатление о городе. Да, они там носятся по улицам царапая асфальт! В остальном же, этот город чарует! Центральный парк , набережная, Крайслер билдинг, Таймс сквер, Бруклинский и Манхеттенский мосты- это то, что непременно стоит увидеть в своей жизни, хотя бы раз! Мост Куинсборо, кстати, тоже довольно красив. Отдельно хочется сказать про Центральный парк , он что-то вроде оазиса в каменных джунглях, уходя все дальше в его глубины, забываешь что ты находишься в мегаполисе. Здесь тихо, спокойно и совсем иная атмосфера…умиротворения. Люди здесь бегают, ездят на велосипедах, занимаются йогой, гуляют с собаками, устраивают пикники, играют в бейсбол, да просто валяются на газоне ничего не делая. Что очень заметно сразу после приезда- здесь всем абсолютно плевать на то, как кто-то выглядит, люди не парятся об этом вообще! Девушки размеров Х+ совершенно не имеют комплексов, да и мужчины тоже. Мятая ли, грязноватая ли рубашка- всем плевать. И это сразу заметно. Я бродила по закоулкам, казалось, всего Манхеттена, забредала в Чайна таун, район Челси, и многие другие места. For the past 4 months, I've been waking up at 6 AM for work. And today, my body glitched, telling me: 'Hey, babe, you don't want to sleep at all.' Waking up this early wasn't the best idea because my girls were sleeping so sweetly, dead to the world. That's logical after last night.) Anyway... At least now I know where the washing machine, iron, and vacuum cleaner are. All the most necessary things. :D But around 9, my time came, we all woke up)) Starbucks was waiting for us with open arms. As usual, a line and nowhere to sit. I don't like this place because of that... But damn, their coffee and pastries are awesome. ^^ Then a map, lots of steps, lots of impressions, photos, souvenirs, shows, crowds, dancing, people, music, boutiques, no time............ At the very beginning of our mini-trip, we got lost.) But we quickly rehabilitated and found the right path to Central Park. A huge area with green lawns, lots of trees, monuments, ponds, and fountains. And also a huge number of people running, jumping, and working out. Just a ton of them. I admit I didn't get any special impressions from Central Park. Yes, it's beautiful and interesting, but something is off, something is not quite right. I want more. Maybe we just walked through the wrong part of the park, we'll make up for it tomorrow.) Walking out into the city, onto Fifth Avenue. God... These majestic buildings... Stretching to some incredible height. What can I describe? Nothing. You have to see it, you have to feel it. ^^ Lots of people, like, sooo many. Just can't breathe, they are everywhere, just thick and fast. I used to think Moscow was a city that's always in a hurry... Definitely not!! The only downside in New York that I've been able to find so far.) Times Square... Hello, heart of New York. Various animated characters, living statues, dancing, shows. It's a fun, unusual, and beautiful place. You have to visit it, you just have to.) We spent the evening at a pizzeria. God, the huge slices they make, like half a big pizza of ours. It's crazy. I walked out like a little bubble, haha) Thanks to Brittany and Shawn for the great cafe and atmosphere.) Then we returned to our hostel and played charades on the first floor. Haha. It was something ;) Laughed my heart out. :D My legs are driving me crazy. Lots of plans and little time, it's so cruel. :( Saw the subway from the inside for the first time, I'll tell you one thing - Moscow is number one! You won't find a gloomier subway in the world. (I'm talking about New York). Terribly ugly...( Walked along 42nd Avenue and bought tickets for an awesome cruise. All the sights from the water, it's wonderful! These high-rise buildings, majestic bridges, Empire, Rockefeller, Statue of Liberty... We made a huge circle, went around all of Manhattan. Great impressions and memories. The only downside - on the way back there wasn't much interesting... monotonous houses, and by the way, lots of greenery. But overall the trip was a success. It's cool!) Then we followed to the bull. Yes, yes, that very one. Haha. It's huge. And for those who don't know, there is a statue of a running bronze (gold) bull in New York. It's located in the financial district of NY, and there is a superstition that if you rub its private parts, dollars will arrive in your wallet.)) People love fairy tales. Walking through the streets of New York, we found an unusual fence in the shape of different little people. And cities are signed under each one. At first, we didn't understand the point, but later we guessed that these are the icons on traffic lights, meaning 'go'. Cool!) Late in the evening, we went to the Rockefeller observation deck. Goooood, guys, it's so, so... Divine. So unusually beautiful. And scary, because unfortunately, I'm afraid of heights. But daaaamn, it's very cool. Already in the elevator, a show awaited us on the ceiling, and in 33 seconds we were rushed to the 67th floor. But later we went even higher, aaaaaaaa!!!) I'm thrilled. Then su

Back in Chinatown, I got an earful for being gone so long without even bothering to give a heads-up. The flight was at 8 PM, so I had a whole day left to say goodbye to America. During those hours, I finally got to admire the beauty of Central Park, ate a couple of farewell burgers, bought some clothes, and chatted with the locals. Boarding the plane, I didn't feel any sadness because I knew this chapter was closed, and there was so much more excitement waiting for me ahead. Thank you, America, for these 4 months we spent together. They were incomparable =)

New York - first impression - huge, beautiful, and a place where you can easily feel lonely... We immediately met up with our friends - and all together we went to look around - our friends were met by a good acquaintance - who offered to show us the very essence of the metropolis... He took us to a pier from which a view of New York opens up. Indeed, from this pier - a View with a capital V is shown.... A beautiful, calm place, a piece of the giant soul of the Big Apple... People here are so different that you involuntarily merge into the general flow of this life... We also ran into the local Chinatown - bought a bunch of souvenirs - honestly, it's like you've ended up in China.... The same hustle and bustle, the same chaos...)))) so don't lose your head ;). Then, having stopped by home, we left our bags and rushed for a walk - Times Square - hmm yes, even time moves differently here - or rather, it doesn't move - it flies.... So many different entertainments, rows of shops, crowds of people, huge billboards, stands, screens... You involuntarily understand why New York is called, along with London and Tokyo, the financial center of the world... New York knows how to effectively make your head spin... J. In the evening, my boyfriend and I went to Central Park, oh by the way - it's better to get a monthly metro card right away, even if you've come for 3 days... These will be the craziest days of your life :). So, Central Park - it's not quite an ordinary park - people gather here to really relax, and most importantly, to come together, to plunge into the atmosphere of the essence of the word "together" - they enjoy their favorite music, play their favorite melodies, skillfully dance to it... It's amazing how it - music - is able to unite people of different abilities, goals, nations, and cultures under its wing... There is also a view of night New York here... It is beautiful and full of its own habits, highlights, and moments... The next day we took a ferry to the Statue of Liberty... Mmm, well, the line there is of course huge, even like that, huuuuge J J J... so keep some time in reserve ;) and this excursion shouldn't be before flying home, 4 hours before departure - you simply won't make it. So, the Statue of Liberty - even though it's old, it means a lot to the American people.... First, they will give you headphones with players - so you can listen to its history... We fooled around a bit - listening to it in 10 international languages ;). To go up to the top, you need to register on the website!!! A view of this dizzying city also opens up here - the point is that here you can see a truly beautiful New York - its Downtown... Having checked this item off our "must-do" list, we went to do our last shopping in America... In general, we spent almost every penny))), but remained completely satisfied, like cats that have eaten their fill of sour cream ;). Then we got to the New York airport in a huge car - there was just a huge pile of suitcases J, we met a crowd of Kazakhs and with joint efforts overcame the last Rubicon of our trip))).

I arrived in New York without any issues and headed to Long Island to sleep. The next morning, I had grand plans to conquer New York) I had to make up for everything I hadn't managed to do all summer in New York in just one day) I woke up at 7 AM and set off. First stop: Times Square. Even though I'd walked past it many times, how could I leave America without a photo at Times Square?)) Plus, I needed to say goodbye to this famous spot... I also popped into Quiksilver and bought a New York t-shirt) I'm so stoked, no one else will have one like it, it's not like those basic "I ❤️ NY" prints)) Then I went for a walk in Central Park. I hadn't visited this legendary place all this time. That wouldn't do) But on the way, I ducked into a shop, bought some clothes, and then some jewelry too)) It's some kind of madness, it's only the beginning of the day and I'm already running around with bags)) After walking around Central Park, I went to Chinatown, since I'd never been to that neighborhood, and you can buy cheap souvenirs there) I went in and completed my plan) but Chinatown amazed me, strangely enough, with the number of Chinese people)) I didn't even think there would be THAT many))) well, I expected some, but not 98% of the people on the streets) I literally met only 2-3 non-Chinese people)) Next point: Statue of Liberty) I went, bought a ticket, took the boat to it, admired it, and listened to the audio tour. I really wanted to go to Ellis Island too, but I was afraid I wouldn't have enough time. The thing is, I still had plans to visit Brighton Beach and make it to the Empire State Building before sunset. Because I really want to see the city in daylight, and then in lights) But if I go to Ellis Island, I might not make it before sunset... While sailing from the statue towards Manhattan, I realized how tired I was and how I didn't want to go anywhere... It all reminded me of the days when I worked as a courier a couple of years ago, having to visit a bunch of places by a certain time... only there the load got lighter by the end of the day, but for me, it was the opposite) But then it dawned on me - oh my god, today is my last day in America! Stop whining, it's time to get everything out of this day!!) I got to Brighton, walked around, admired the Russian signs, and listened to the Russian people around me)) It's so great when you see a piece of home in another country))) Sigh, soon Russian-speaking people around won't cause so many emotions, just in a couple of days... I headed back from Brighton, and by the time I arrived, it was starting to get dark. I climbed up the Empire State Building and was speechless... It's insane! The whole city is in the palm of my hand, I can't even believe I'm at such a height! I wanted to take photos, photos, shoot videos, and take more photos! I also wanted to just look down at everything happening below for a long time... the only thing spoiling the picture was the huge number of people who were also pushing to see it all.. I came down after this unimaginable sight, went for some mini-shopping, and headed back to Long Island. Tomorrow I have a flight to Moscow. And so my summer in the States has ended. I can't believe that in just a little while I'll be in Russia.

(He was the first Kazakh I've met in the USA in the three months I've been here😹) On the way home on the train, I remembered another student whom my friends and I met on the "Pirates of the Baltic Sea" cruise. He is doing his second master's degree in Finland. In Boston, there are also two Kazakh girls from NIS Shymkent, both named Assel: one graduated from Yale University and now works at Harvard, the other just started her master's degree there. ——— Such stories inspire me incredibly. Once upon a time, when I was still very little, I loved singing along to the famous song “if you are going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair” and I didn't even dare to dream back then that one day I would actually end up in San Francisco... see the Golden Gate Bridge with my own eyes, walk along the narrow streets, and ride the cable car... But life very often brings unexpected surprises, and here I am in the city of my dreams! Ah, San Francisco! Walking along these narrow streets, climbing up and then rolling down the hills, is a huge pleasure! There is so much to see here besides the Golden Gate! In San Francisco, you will find the oldest Chinatown in America, where you can sit in a Chinese restaurant or buy cheap trinkets and souvenirs. Also, be sure to find the neighborhood where the hippie movement began, where walking along the narrow streets you can meet many unusual and interesting people, stop by a coffee shop, or just relax to the sounds of reggae drifting from a window. In San Francisco, definitely take a walk through the park, which, if I'm not mistaken, is larger in area than Central Park in New York itself. Buy a coffee at Starbucks and take a leisurely stroll through the cozy streets lined with Victorian-style buildings. And of course, don't forget to visit Alcatraz! The island where the famous prison stands is very beautiful in itself; it's worth taking a tour just for the views that open up from it. And the prison... I still get goosebumps when I remember Alcatraz... A creepy place, but it draws you in somehow... It's worth stepping into a cell for just a couple of minutes to start appreciating all the joys of life and freedom again.
