Hollywood Boulevard packs heavy foot traffic and constant commercial production outside the doors, forcing residents in the district to navigate red-carpet closures on short notice.
Charles E. Toberman collaborated with Sid Grauman to construct this venue alongside the Egyptian and Chinese auditoriums. Originally built for live theatrical productions and drama, the venue shifted toward screening feature films as economic pressures mounted, later hosting the world debut of Citizen Kane before undergoing a major interior remodel.
