Що подарував Техас?

До цієї поїздки я майже нічого не знала про Техас. Час минав, і потроху я звикла до нового життя. З мого особистого щоденника: «Я вже звикла, що моя вага тут понад 100, зріст трохи більше 5, що калорії не в 100 грамах, а в порції, а бензин не в літрах, а в галонах. На вулиці у нас зазвичай близько 100 градусів, а швидкість нашої машини близько 50. І всі ці милі, фунти, ярди та Фаренгейти вже не зводять мене з розуму так, як зводили спочатку. Я вже спокійно відраховую монети на касі, хоча в перші дні в паніці скидала паперові гроші і молилася, аби в мене не запитали про дріб'язок. Нестандартні аркуші здаються тепер стандартними, а ваги, що показують 100 з гаком, не так лякають. Коли новий знайомий каже, що живе за 30 миль від нас, я маю досить чітке уявлення, наскільки це далеко, а якщо глибина річки близько 2 ярдів, я розумію, що до дна можна і дістати, якщо постаратися.
