Leslie oversaw extensive reconstruction during the Baroque era, stripping away purely defensive battlements.

Conversion into a rural manor established the complex as the administrative center of a substantial landed estate. Ownership remained with Leslie descendants until family lines ended, passing next to the House of Dietrichstein and subsequently to Countess Theresia von Herberstein. The Herberstein family retained the property until postwar nationalization converted the private aristocratic estate into a public monument.
