About the place

Khan As'ad Pasha stands inside the Old City as a monumental courtyard structure built for trade and lodging.

The complex stands along Al-Buzuriyah Souq in the historic district of Damascus. As'ad Pasha al-Azm, the Ottoman governor of the city, commissioned the building as a central trade depot and transit station. It remains the largest surviving caravanserai in the old quarter, designed to host merchants and store commercial cargo.
