Lyon preserves its legacy as a European book printing centre inside the Museum of Printing and Graphic Communication.

Master printer Maurice Audin and book historian Henri-Jean Martin established the institution to protect the municipal graphic legacy. The collection occupies Hôtel de la Couronne on rue de la Poulaillerie, a mansion that formerly hosted assemblies of the city aldermen. Donated to the municipality by the LCL banking corporation, the site preserves original printing presses and typographic archives within historic administrative halls.
