Duke Chapel stands at the center of campus as an ecumenical sanctuary.

The chapel occupies the center of the university grounds and remains the core religious institution on campus. Constructed from heavy stone in the Collegiate Gothic tradition, the building features pointed arches and ribbed vaulting that place it among the tallest structures in the county. Academic paths converge outside the entryways, making the surrounding plaza a daily landmark for residents crossing the university quad.
