Wizard Island rises as a volcanic cinder cone out of the western waters of Crater Lake.

Wizard Island forms a volcanic cinder cone situated entirely within Crater Lake in Oregon. The geological landform projects straight out of the western end of the lake inside Crater Lake National Park. Water surrounds the perimeter completely, cutting off continuous terrestrial access and making boat passages the sole method of approach for work or exploration.
