Valiasr Street forms the primary north-south spine of Tehran, dividing the city into eastern and western sectors while serving as its central commercial corridor.

The avenue functions as the main north-south axis of Tehran, separating the urban area into eastern and western halves. Plane trees and running water streams frame both sides of the roadway alongside major commercial centers. Media reports identify the route as the longest corridor in the region, creating a single continuous passage between northern foothill districts and the central core.

The route began as an unpaved track linking royal residences in Shemiranat County with Marmar Palace. Early construction introduced dedicated wells in Zafaraniyeh to irrigate saplings and rose bushes along the shoulders. Originally restricted to official state transit, the roadway later opened to the general public, allowing everyday residents into the Behjat Abad area as the corridor was paved and asphalted.
