Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art anchors the public cultural grounds of Okazaki Park as one of the oldest municipal art institutions in Japan.

The site opened as the Shōwa Imperial Coronation Art Museum of Kyoto to commemorate the coronation of Emperor Hirohito. Later known as the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art and currently named the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art, the venue ranks among the oldest municipal art museums in Japan.
