A coastal runway beside Castries connects northern districts directly to neighboring islands.

George F. L. Charles Airport handles regional passenger traffic just north of Castries under the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority. Operating as the smaller island airfield alongside Hewanorra International Airport, the facility removes the overland journey across the island for travelers bound for the capital. The joint authority manages terminal movements alongside maritime logistics.

The runway extends directly alongside Vigie Beach, placing arriving turboprops and departing regional aircraft directly against an active public coastline. Swimmers and sunbathers share the shoreline with landing patterns, creating steady engine noise along the waterfront. For long-term residents and arrivals, the layout allows immediate foot access between the seaside sand and the boarding gates.
