Cookies and similar technologies
This notice applies to all IEC services on iec.exchange and its subdomains and to our mobile apps (the list of services is at https://id.iec.exchange/services). You make one choice for all of them. It is kept in your IEC ID account once you are signed in, and in the `iec_consent` cookie on iec.exchange, so you are not asked again on every service.
Service improvement (analytics) and Personalisation (including advertising) are off until you switch them on, and they are separate choices: accepting one does not accept the other, and accepting our Terms or Privacy Policy accepts neither.
Essential (strictly necessary)
Always on — the services cannot work without them, so no consent is asked.
- the session cookie on `*.iec.exchange` — until sign-out or session expiry;
- `iec_consent` — remembers your cookie choices; 12 months;
- OAuth `state` parameters and CSRF tokens — protect sign-in; minutes;
- anti-fraud and rate-limit counters;
- interface settings you choose yourself — language, theme, collapsed hints — kept in your browser until you change them.
First-party measurement
To know how many people visit our services and where they come from, we keep our own statistics. Page views are counted without cookies: we store only aggregated figures (pages, traffic sources and campaign tags, device type, country) and a visitor hash that changes every day; we do not store your IP address and do not link these figures to your account. When you arrive through a link or a campaign, each service remembers that first touch in its own first-party cookie (for example `iec_acq_touch`) for up to 13 months, so that a later sign-up can be attributed to that channel. It contains only the campaign tags, the landing page and the referring site, and it is never shared with third parties.
Service improvement (analytics)
How the services are used — which sections are opened, where a flow is abandoned, which channels bring people to us. Off by default. We use Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager, provided by Google Ireland Limited. Cookies: `_ga`, `_ga_<id>` (up to 2 years). Until you consent, the Tag Manager script is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google.
Personalisation (including advertising)
Lets us tailor content to you and show you IEC offers on other websites and apps, build audiences of people interested in IEC services, and measure which of our ads work. Off by default; a separate choice. If you decline, every service works exactly the same.
| Provider | Purpose | Cookies / identifiers | Lifetime | |---|---|---|---| | Google (Google Ads, through Google Tag Manager) | remarketing audiences, conversion measurement | `_gcl_au`, `_gcl_aw`, `IDE`, the `gclid` link parameter | up to 13 months | | Meta (Meta Pixel) | custom audiences, conversion measurement | `_fbp`, `_fbc`, `fr`, the `fbclid` link parameter | up to 90 days | | In our apps | the same purposes | the device advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID; on iOS only if you allow tracking in the system prompt) | until you reset it in the device settings |
These providers receive pseudonymous identifiers, the pages you visit and actions you take on our services (for example, signing up or purchasing a subscription). They do not receive your name, your email address in clear text, the content of your materials or conversations, or payment data. For data collected through their tags on our pages, Google and Meta act together with us as joint controllers and then use it under their own privacy policies.
Audiences are kept for no longer than 90 days after your last visit. People under 18 are never included in our advertising audiences.
Changing your mind
Change or withdraw any choice at any time: Legal Center → Cookies, or "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. The change applies to all IEC services at once: we stop loading the affected tags, stop sending events to the providers from our servers and erase the cookies we can reach. Cookies on the providers' own domains can be removed in your browser; to leave audiences already built, use adssettings.google.com and facebook.com/adpreferences. In our iOS apps you can also turn tracking off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
