Donauturm remains the tallest structure in the country, planned by Hannes Lintl and Robert Krapfenbauer for a major horticultural exposition.

The tower emerged as an architectural centerpiece for the Vienna International Garden Show following designs by Hannes Lintl and Robert Krapfenbauer. Construction work commenced after laying the official foundation stone, with capital supplied primarily by Zentralsparkasse and supplemented by commercial support from Schwechat Brewery.
