Besides those cities, I also visited Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Baltimore, and Denver. I will go through them quickly and share the most important things. If you are traveling to the West, do not buy a tour. If you go on your own: - you save money - you manage your own time; in my case, it was extremely limited. I had to spend less than a day in each city, which is very little for a big city - you don't have to adapt to anyone else and can create your own travel plan. If I were to go again, I would organize everything myself. It is better to spend your nerves now and then travel and enjoy yourself in peace. Los Angeles was one of the big cities. We didn't even cover 1/4 of it. The road takes up most of the time, so set aside as many hours as possible and have a blast. I am more than sure that there is plenty to see in Los Angeles. Las Vegas didn't capture my heart at all. For me, one day is more than enough for it. The main street, the "Strip," is the only thing worth looking at. Besides hotels and casinos, you won't see anything else. If you are a gambler, it will suit you because there are casinos at every step. And the main factor that pushed me away was the climate. In summer, it is sweltering heat, with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. The only time you can walk around is at night. It seemed soulless to me; there is debauchery everywhere, and there are plenty of drunk men trying to find their prey. If you like that kind of atmosphere, then run to Las Vegas. There is one more place I haven't mentioned before. A place where you can experience an adrenaline rush: "Six Flags." Since I adore roller coasters and entertainment of that kind, I couldn't help but go there, otherwise, I would never have forgiven myself. Six Flags is a paradise for both adults and children. This amusement park is in many states of America. I went to the one closest to me. Believe me, you won't experience so many emotions at once anywhere else, so I highly recommend going and seeing it with your own eyes.

When we felt a bit sad that it was time to go home and everything was coming to an end, a spontaneous idea popped into our heads: to visit the Grand Canyon. It was just on our way, and to check off another spot on our bucket list, we decided to head there on a whim. The road was long, the weather was scorching, but it was worth it! The beauty of the canyon cannot be described in words; you really have to see it. Even in the most professional photos, it doesn't look like it does in real life. It is vast, deep, and aesthetic. I felt like I was inside a painting by some famous artist. But the artist of this masterpiece is Mother Nature. Every rock or crevice looked exactly as it was meant to be. I was drowning in this beauty, I felt free, I breathed with my full lungs. I'm writing this now and remembering, and I still get goosebumps; the Grand Canyon inspired me so much. Desert Arizona is just as impressive as fertile California. Soon we were on our way home to Estes Park. The next day we arrived at Denver airport. We had our Denver-New York ticket in our hands... I realized the end was inevitable. I spent 3.5 months here, I learned so much, I saw more than I had seen in 20 years of living in Kazakhstan. At that very moment, my eyes automatically welled up, and tears streamed down my cheeks one after another. I know, "boys don't cry, it's not cool," but I couldn't control myself; it was beyond my strength. I felt like I was leaving a huge piece of my soul here and now, but there was no turning back. Arriving in New York as completely new people, we were no longer those three students with fear in our eyes and uncertainty in our souls; we had become much more experienced, mature, and confident. It took us exactly 2 days to buy gifts for our family and friends. I proudly spent the money I had earned myself and was happy that I could bring small pieces of my dream home. Shopping was tiring, of course, but it didn't take away the enthusiasm to walk the streets and avenues of New York again and again. September 20th, night. I am on the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, looking at New York at night, and I can't get enough of it. I turned 21 and I'm on the roof of the tallest building in New York; tell me, what could be better? Did I ever dream of spending my birthday in the USA? The answer is, of course, YES! Did I think it could happen? The answer is, the chances were not great. But reality proves otherwise—there is always a chance! In the end, I want to wish everyone kindness and advise you to dream, dream big, and turn your dreams into reality. I succeeded, and you undoubtedly will too! SUMMARY: 6 states, 8 cities, and 0 regrets. I don't regret anything; I believe everything was meant to happen this way!

We picked up our things from the locker, grabbed our tickets, and started checking where the stops and transfers would be. And then it turned out we had a whole 7 hours between buses in Denver. It was an unplanned stop, but I'm so glad we saw this city. We didn't have much time, only enough to walk around downtown, but even in that short time, it completely charmed us. Denver is the capital of Colorado, a big and beautiful city. In the center of downtown, you'll find a large pedestrian street where free trolleys run every 10 seconds. Yes, completely free, and the intervals between them really are no more than 10 seconds—the guidebook didn't lie to us! Downtown is very green and cozy; I didn't even want to leave. Also, Denver is home to the State Capitol, where you can walk in freely and even peek through a crack into the courtroom. By the way, if anyone is staying in Denver for more than a day, I highly recommend visiting the Museum of Contemporary Art! You'll find a rich and fascinating collection there! I really regretted that we didn't have time to make it there.

And so, on May 19, 2017, I boarded a plane for the SPb-Moscow-New York-Denver route. The most unforgettable, fun, happy, and intriguing 4 months of my life had begun. I was afraid of the transatlantic flight: I thought 9 hours would feel like an eternity, but it was a wonderful and, most importantly, a maximally comfortable flight! Thank you, Aeroflot. Only a few minutes remain until I step onto the territory of my dreams. But for now, you enjoy the view of New York from the porthole window... I was flying out of rainy and cold St. Petersburg to warm America (or so I thought). After all, neither I, nor my friends, nor my relatives thought to check the weather in Estes Park, my final destination. I arrived in Denver in summer sneakers, jeans, and a light jacket. It was night, and I justified the cold by that alone. But as we were driving in the mountains, I saw SNOW. They told me that a few days ago, so much snow had fallen that the main highway was closed. HELLO! My friends who were meeting me there didn't even tell me about this. To say I was in shock, bewilderment, and confusion is an understatement. Overcoming snowdrifts, I finally reached my bed after about 30 hours of travel.

If I'm going to start a story about America, it has to be from the very beginning: the plane! The flight was long... Minsk-Moscow-Washington-Denver-Jackson! I was very worried about making all my connections, as I had anywhere from 1.5 hours to 55 minutes depending on the airport... In Moscow, the flight check-in system glitched right in front of me, and we waited a whole hour for them to fix it. The departure was delayed by 45 minutes. Standing next to me were a woman—an economics professor—and a man—some singer on tour—and I spent the whole hour listening to them talk about how many countries they had visited! Unfortunately, they didn't say anything interesting; I even doubt they were listening to each other... They were mostly just bragging and competing... In any case, upon arriving in Washington, I had to go through customs. The woman in front of me didn't speak English, so the customs officer called me over and asked me to help translate... That was the first time I received a compliment on my English on American soil. I felt proud of that for about five hours, but then I arrived at my destination, and when they asked me about the economic situation in Belarus, I realized I couldn't squeeze out more than two or three sentences... that was sad... But returning to the flights, my favorite moment is the plane taking off! It picks up speed, and more, and more, and then we're flying. After that, it's not interesting to me anymore, and nothing exciting happens. The main takeaway from all these flights was the motto: Relax! Everything works out very easily and stress-free; all the transfers were successful without any trouble, and I got huge pleasure from flying halfway across the world completely on my own! I think you should try it sometime too! : - )
