Walking the Zattere promenade past Gesuati gives Dorsoduro residents an open waterfront path free of canal bottlenecks, though channel winds demand heavy layers.
The Dominican order outgrew the neighbouring church of the Visitation and engaged Giorgio Massari after their initial architect died. Massari designed the structure along the Zattere quay, taking inspiration from classic Palladian waterfront landmarks visible across the water. The exterior facade mirrors the central structure of San Giorgio Maggiore, while the internal layout adapts the spatial logic of Il Redentore.
Extensive fundraising organized by Carlo Maria Lazzaroni secured substantial patronage from religious bodies and benefactors. This continuous financial backing enabled the community to coordinate the architecture, interior paintings, and stone statuary in a single unified campaign. Dedicated to the devotion of the Rosary, the finished sanctuary preserves its original internal layout and Rococo decorative scheme intact.
