À propos du lieu

Prempeh I International Airport anchors commercial travel across the Ashanti Region and northern Ghana.

Prempeh I International Airport operates as the primary aviation gateway for the Ashanti Region, connecting Kumasi with the middle belt and the northern territories. Formerly known as Kumasi Airport, the airfield honours Asante King Prempeh I and handles intense passenger traffic trailing only the national capital facility.

The airfield began as a military base for the British Royal Air Force before transitioning into a civil aviation center. Decades of infrastructure work added navigational beacons, runway extensions, and dedicated passenger halls. Major overhauls refurbished the rescue station, control room, and terminal lounges for international traffic.
